Running on concrete?
It was so dark and muddy tonight, that we decided to walk the girls along a closed road parallel to the clifftop. Lots of dog walkers use it, and you can see out to sea even when it's dark so it's kinda pretty (as much as night-time dog walking gets!). Anyway they were both tearing about with a ball and it wasn't until we got home that we noticed that 2 of Chloe's nails were bleeding. There's no damage as such, as in no broken claws, but she's been licking them all evening. Just wondering, should we discourage running on concrete?

Re: Running on concrete?
I'll have a good look in the morning Janey as she's fast asleep at the moment and I don't want to disturb her. She does 'give it all' when she's chasing a ball though. Hard to rein them in sometimes isn't it, little livewires!

Re: Running on concrete?
If she is not used to it then it can hurt, lexi has never had any toenail problems and most of her walking is on tarmac so her nails are always very naturallly short and never split. When she heals up you might want to walk her on harder ground more and it may not happen again

Re: Running on concrete?
Thanks everyone The blood was coming from between the fleshy bits of her pad so we're thinking that she could have run on some glass
