Does anyone know of a reputable breeder that specializes in breeding small Staffords? I have been searching for a while but haven't seen anyone that caters to this. I prefer someone in America but would also consider the UK also. Please lend a hand if you csn. Thanks in advance!

Small staffords? I think Staffords within the breed guidelines are pretty small anyway. Easy to find a breeder by looking at their breeding dogs to see if they fall in between the range of 14-16in.

I'm assuming you're in the USA? If you are, I have a feeling that is why you're having trouble finding a breeder for the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the breeders you're finding are for American Staffordshire Terriers which are A LOT taller and a different dog to the SBT.

Not sure about UK breeders but I know a few who breed true to standard and between the 14-16inch in Spain.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, Staffys are pretty rare here in the US. What I'm looking for is ones that are on low side of the weight scale. The range for this breed is somewhat vast (24-34 lbs for a female). I would really like one closer to the 24lb (or less) if possible. I remember hearing of such a breeder many years ago but can't remember?

Hiya! I think it would just be a case of researching sires/dams and asking for their measurements, if they suit what you're looking for put your name on the list for a pup but you can never guarantee size, there are all sorts of throwbacks that come into play in breeding.

Do you need a pup for any reason? If you're looking for something very specific you could always ask breeders if they have any older dogs that they had sold as pups but have come back needing a home as adults? Any reputable breeder will take back any adult dogs and rehome them themselves. This way you will know exactly what they will look like fully grown, but will still know their heritage and possibly have papers if required.

Have a look at the "Domaine des Alunts" in france they have dogs that are to standard and in france the law says that a staffy over 40 cm at the garrot is classed as pit bull type so the staffies in france tend to be smaller than in the uk in general. They specialise in black and blue colours and export dogs all over the world, they speak english and are very nice people only problem is they have a very long waiting list because they are good. Good luck

I know of an excellent place to get small Staffs; it's called a Rescue.
