Walking/hiking boots
I've been doing longer walks lately and have been looking at getting some proper walking boots but there are so many different types and brands, I'm a bit lost! Any advise/recommendation/ones to avoid would be helpful thanks xx

Out of my price range at the moment but love these mind you for quality they would be worth it. I have Lowa boots for work so wear them 6 days out of 10 and the current pair are 4yrs and still in excellent condition warm in the winter, breathable in the summer and waterproof. They were comfortable and didn't need wearing in from day 1

That's a shame, I have the Supalite ones and are very comfortable and waterpoof.
Have a look at Regatta walking boots, this brand have always impressed me with other items of clothing although I have never tried their boots.

Re: Walking/hiking boots
I bought a pair of Karrimor boots just before I bought the Brashers, I found the build quality was quite poor on them and they didn't last very long. Have had them in the past and they had lasted longer hope you are lucky with yours.

Hope so, they all seemed to have good reviews, for the money I don't expect them to last forever, hopefully when I need new ones I'll have more to spend

EDIT: I've just seen your link so my post below isn't really relevant. I was talking about the military-style combat Lowas, not the climbing boot. But I'll leave it in just in case anyone knows the answer!
If this doesn't seem a weird question, how do you wear them? I've got a pair of Lowa GTXs which cost the best part of £200 and they've been sitting unused in my closet for months. They were so painful that I literally couldn't walk more than a mile and ended up with raw skin and bruising on my inner calves and I don't bruise easily. I tried lacing right to the top, trousers out, trousers in, lacing half way, thick socks, thin socks, socks over the top, nothing had any effect, they are absolute agony.

Re: Walking/hiking boots
Have you got the combat ones? (5x hooky lace things) they looked too high for me tbh
For work I have the black military style I had the mountain ones first couldn't get new ones in my size so have patrol ones they are an inch or so smaller than the combat ones (4x hooky things). I just wear with a pair of cheap (sports direct) karrimor walking socks but used to wear any sport sock both pairs I've worn straight out of the box no rubbing or blisters and I don't tie them particularly tight.
Don't know what size you are but there are narrower fittings in the smaller sizes (I'm a diddy 4).

Yeah, they're the ones with 5 hooks. Maybe I just have weird-shaped legs or something. I'm size 9 and when I put them on they fit perfectly, like they were custom made, but as soon as I start walking the pain begins. I think maybe ebay is in their future...

Re: Walking/hiking boots
Just checked my work ones actually only 3 hooky things ai my concern with the high ones was them pushing on the achilles
Trade in on ebay will still be good mind you have you tried contacting supplier and or Lowa direct might be worth a shot to see if they offer a swap/refund as goodwill

If I'd have acted sooner I could have got a full refund as I bought them from Amazon and they refund immediately, no quibbles, but fool that I am I've waited too long now so I'll get them sold on ebay.
