Re: another walking thread
Hi Alan. I think you'll find that this is typical Staff. You would think that they would be keen as mustard to go for a walk but even my older girl refuses at times, they can be stubborn things.
I got around it by not giving in to her demands and though she hesitates sometimes, she knows we are going whatever so trots on. Always happy once we are at the park!
Some people use treats etc. hope this helps.

Re: another walking thread
At that age who knows! Just takes time and patience (said that a lot today). It won't happen over night if you are forcing him, tbh that will make it worse - you have to make it fun, take a toy and be the most exciting thing ever - doesn't matter how silly you feel.

As Janey says above, you may have to make yourself sound silly in a girly voice to get him out, toys/treats may well help too.

Re: another walking thread
Hi Alan we had this with Gordon for the first few weeks, we just enticed him with treats and tried to make things fun while we were walking him to the park, once we were at the park he was fine, just takes time x

im 58 years old so i dont have much of an image but im sure that talking in a girly voice would certainly wreck what little image i have lolKathy wrote:As Janey says above, you may have to make yourself sound silly in a girly voice to get him out, toys/treats may well help too.

Re: another walking thread
I had lots of dogs in kennels that used to refuse to walk and found food or toy lures with the girly voice very useful lol! I'd recommend using the lures with a command however, so that you aren't relying on lures forever! I use "let's go" when I want to start walking and as mentioned make sure it's fun for him so that he wants to go!
