My dog has all of a sudden started to act strange!
My 7 year old dog Reg in the last few weeks has started to get freaked out for no obvious reason he gets really worked up and heavily pants and tries to escape.
He used to act this way if there was a noise that he didn't like i.e. fireworks or a gun shot.
He has chewed the kennel door frantically to escape and has succeeded, when he gets out and no one is there i find him in with my other dog panting heavily and nipping my other dogs neck, when i am there and he gets out he'll just run around in circles panting with his eyes bulging.
Nothing has changed in diet or exercise for him.
He gets let out for exercise in the yard for about an hour, all afternoon if I'm not working during the day and i also take him for about an hours walk.
I just don't understand it!
Has this ever happened to anyone else?

It's horrible isn't it! it's like you cant do nothing for them. Reg doesn't like motorbikes either.

it's a nightmare at time i'm not sure what you can do about it

Hiya! I'd agree with Steve that something has probably spooked him when he's been alone and it's triggered a panic response. I'd probably pop him to the vets just in case.

Re: My dog has all of a sudden started to act strange!
So much better Thank you (touch wood) took him to the vets and he checked him over everything's fine, he just gave me some calming aid to give him twice a day. He said sounds like he is hearing noises that we cant hear during the night.
He hasn't tried to escape once or got worked up.
He doesn't pull on the lead so much now and does what he's told much quicker. Hopefully this will help him change his behaviour and he'll get out of acting the way he did when he gets scared.
