Moving House Empty Moving House

Post by becki2009 Sun Apr 06 2014, 13:27

Hello My staffy friends!

We are moving house this weekend. Sky already seems to know something is going on thats a bit different, due to all the packing!

She will be spending a few days with family etc whilst we move, Then will return to the new house.

Im sure she will be fine, but has anybody experienced a sad staffy due to change? Or is there anything we can do to make it as easy as possible for her? Im thinking lots of treats!

Try to keep in the same routine with her as before as much as you can. Hope it all goes well for you all.

Darcy gets really sad when she sees the suitcases go on the bed, really sad faces, stick to your routine and hopefully things will go smoothly xx

We moved house last Friday, Calvin was with us the whole time mainly playing in his nice new big garden and zooming up and down the stairs, we were in a bungalow before so they are a novelty for him. His routine stayed the same and we didn't wash any of his bedding prior to moving so it still has his scent on it. He appears to have settled very well, Im sure Sky will be ok and it will be like a big adventure for her.

Thankyou. I won't wash her bedding. We are the opposite going from a house to bungalow! But we will have a nice big garden Smile

Hello,

Very similar to the above post, we moved house but didn't wash her bedding, same crate, same meal times etc & of course lots of staffi snuggles. Our staffi is a rescue, so I was worried she'd be a bit unsettled, but she was just fine when we moved & settled really quickly. Some initial, short lived pacing & insecurity but nothing worth a mention, so here's hoping all will go for you too.

Biscuits moved house a few times and the change always messes her up Sad she's very sensitive! I've just given extra exciting walks and made sure she has a comfy place to rest with a stuffed kong to keep her occupied. She likes to be involved in the move lol but obviously gets under feet when moving boxes so we give her own little place Smile good luck!

My old Bitch Missy was a bit unsettled for about a week. Then she found a spot in front of a vent that emitted heat from the fire place. Settled VERY quickly after that. Lol

Thanks. The place we are moving too is a bit more lively. More noisy and more passers by so I think she will be a bit unsettled. I was thinking of getting her a ' dog cave' bed. Or an igloo bed. But have not found one suitable..or they are too small. She loves being under blankets so I think she will feel more safe wen we are not home.

I thought about that but her crate is really big and rusty. Better off in the bin really!

She will be fine, bit like going on holiday as Janey says too. Pixee loves coming away with us, new walks for her and new pubs to visit too. I never wash her bedding either, so she knows her own smell etc. We did change our kitchen and lounge round, swapped them, and knocked a wall through, Pixee was good as gold, but somewhat confused as to why she couldnt get into the kitchen, now a lounge from the garage anymore, but soon got use to it. Her front room, stayed the same, her fav room which is now part of the kitchen. Sky will see the same furniture and smell etc, so should soon settle down once she has got use to the new noises etc. Good luck with the move.
