Moving House Empty Moving House

Post by Rebecca Mon Oct 15 2012, 21:34

I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for moving Cali to the new house so it is not too stressful for him. I did read somewhere that we should walk him to the new place so that he is tired and chills while all the madness is going on but do we walk him there first or after all the stuff is moved. Am i stressing over nothing??? Just want to do it right so that he is comfy in the new place asap. And did i mention he has a new forest nearby to play in, from hardcore city dog to woods and stuff... great!

Yes, I'd walk him before, then let him have a good look around & then walk him again.

Is there anyone you can leave him with while you're actually moving? It's the furniture etc going & the to-ing & fro-ing that makes dogs so anxious.

Moo hates change, depends how big your move is but if he could be looked after whilst you move it may help Xx

Have a good long walk before you do the main move and another after, try to keep him calm and away from all the stress.

Thanks for all the advice, Ideally i would like to find someone to look after him while we move, but a lot of my friends or their partners don't feel confident with him. Do you think if i walk him up to the new house (2 and a half hrs walk) then crate him for a while in a quiet room will work?

Our house is on the market. Calm is the way. So yeah a good walk before and after. What I would do is, soon as you have the keys to your new home, and if at all possible, take Cali there so he can have a good nose round first.
