Something is wrong
There's something wrong with Ledger, he has eaten fine today done plenty of wees and two poos walked as normal and been out running after his ball but he yelped earlier when he climbed on my knee after he had been sat just staring at the stairs and whimpering (he would normally take himself off upstairs to sleep) now he is clingy and crying I am checking him all over and he isn't flinching or anything but we all know how high their pain tolerance is
Going to see if he will settle with me on the floor with him (and calm myself down) if no change in an hour I think a vet call might be in order

Re: Something is wrong
Just went to give him his bed time chew he got to the second stair and sat down shaking (still gobbled down his chew) so I think it's maybe a muscle strain as he doesn't appear to be limping just walking slowly round the house.
So this is me camped out on the sofa for the night and he's curled up behind my knees. Will see how the morning walk goes then give the vet a call

Re: Something is wrong
Aww.. Have you checked between the toes just in case something is lodged there.
I guess you probably have. Hope it's just a pulled muscle and that he's walking better tomorrow
Hope you get some sleep too.

Poor Ledger
Could be he's strained a back muscle. Similar symptoms to my last male staffie who did that.
Anti-inflammatory and he was fine, along with rest. ( God, it's hard to rest a staffie isn't it?!)
Good luck

Re: Something is wrong
Possibly On the blockage but he hasnt had any bone since Monday and he has been kinda good on walks, I just don't get why he wouldnt climb the stairs
Telling point will be around lunchtime we will see if he still wants to go play ball
Normally keeping him still is a massive issue better make the most of the peace

Re: Something is wrong
Well that was an experience, I've been told in future to take him in wearing a muzzle and when I tried to take over and treat him through the muzzle to try and get it on I got told to not treat his snapping despite telling them that he isn't desensitized to them yet. Not my fault the straps on them loosen with ease let alone when he reared up hooked his claws in both sides and pulled it off forwards.
FFS I've brought him in as he seems in pain/discomfort/distress and I can't locate where from! Might give you a clue that he might be a little stressed let alone after a muzzle wrestle
Anyway as best as she said she could check she couldn't locate any blockage in his guts or tender spots on joints so is going with it being Colitis so got paste for 3 days, tablets for 5 and a couple days on cooked chicken and rice/sweet potato

Re: Something is wrong
Oh poor Ledger. If its mostly going up the stairs that's the problem, would it be colitis? I don't know much about it, but sounds more like he has pulled something or a trapped nerve?
I hope he is better soon Jules

Re: Something is wrong
Ai i cant see at all how a digestive problem would stop him from climbing the stairs but the vet really wasnt happy trying to check him so wondering if its a bit of a stock go to diagnosis also my dad thinks I'm mad taking him to the vet so soon reckons I should have given it 7 days

Re: Something is wrong
He wasn't being aggressive but he wasn't happy she just kept saying he's strong isn't he, and after coming at him with the muzzle front on a few times and him hooking it off twice he did then snap at it. Tbh it was a lot bigger than his Baskerville muzzle and as I say had a slip adjustment on the strap as I pre tightened it put it on fine but as soon as I clipped it the strap slipped loose and it fell off again! Quite funny watching him take it off tho he would raise both paws grip it and pull forward taking it off kinda looked like a squirrel eating a nut

Re: Something is wrong
Poor ledger what an awful vet visit, sounds like she had no clue really about dogs or their behaviour!!! Hope whatever it is heals itself and he doesn't have to go back and see that insensitive vet!!!! Big hugs for you both xx

Poor Ledger. I hope he is feeling better today? When they have sore insides it can hurt climbing stairs as it stretches and squishes their guts

Re: Something is wrong
He woke me up at 4.30 crying to take him out desperate for a wee but seemed a little brighter, he is with my dad while I'm at work so will be interesting to see how he is when I get home and he has had his pre cooked chicken and rice meals fried off his DAF mince last night gotta say it smelt quite nice
