Shaking like crazy
For as long as I can remember Brody has had the shakes so it mustn't be anything to worry about but he shakes mainly on his back legs and it goes rite through his body. Normal it's worst when he's on a walk and when I stop he's just standing there shaking even after walking for 2 mins.
Does anyone's staffy do this to? The amount off people that asks me why my dog is scared is unreal lol

Re: Shaking like crazy
If I remember rite we mentioned it to him years ago but can't remember what he said, yeh his feet are fine. It's not just his legs it's his whole body but its most noticeable on his rear legs. I think it seems to be when he's a bit excited.
But yeh if no one else has noticed there staffy doing it I will defo take him to the vets. Actually when he's in the vets that's when he shakes most bit I think that's him just scared

Re: Shaking like crazy
It usually causes tremors and exercise intolerance. Ruby has always been a 'shaky' dog and as we know now is affected with L2HGA. Whereabouts in the country are you? On my phone so your profile doesn't show up.

If you look on facebook there's a L2HGA group which had been set up by a vet from Scotland to promote awareness and support with L2.

Re: Shaking like crazy
When we were able to walk ruby her back legs would go into spasm and she would arch her back like a cat and walk on her tiptoes. We would usually have to pick her up and carry her as she wouldn't be able to walk.

Re: Shaking like crazy
sash shakes when she's excited, normally just before she knows she's going for a walk,a check over at the vets would stop you worrying

Re: Shaking like crazy
There are varying degrees by the look of it, there's a couple of dogs aged 9/10 that are really doing very well and their symptoms aren't as bad as others. Post a video if you get chance

Re: Shaking like crazy
Biscuit's a shaker.. I've seen it in smaller terriers also, I've just always put it down to excited/nervous energy. If we stop on a walk she will sit there shaking waiting to go again. Also does it when she's cold or overly excited.

Re: Shaking like crazy
Hmm.. That does look more like tremors than bug's! She just gently trembles. I'd show the video to the vets to be sure, try not to worry though!

Re: Shaking like crazy
I don't have any experience of this but I have seen various dogs that seem to shake. They are usually small terriers, have often wondered why they do it.

Re: Shaking like crazy
Hi, I sent a video to the vets on Facebook who are spreading the word off l2hga and Brody's symptoms don't really match but I'm still going to get it tested.
Yesterday when I took him out for a walk I must have walked 20 yards and bumped into an old mate so we had a chat and I looked down and there was Brody shaking like in the video.. So my thoughts is that it's hopefully just excitement.
We're going to the vets soon to get our rabbits vaccinated so I'm going to mention it to them and show him the video and take it from there.
We're just back from a 3.3 mile cycle so he's flaked out just now lol

Re: Shaking like crazy
Had brody to the vets today, this is the first time he has been to this new vets and he was a wee bugger to the vet :/
Anyway I showed him the video off brody shaking and he said he sees this in a lot off staffs.. So I'm not to sure what to think off that tbh

Re: Shaking like crazy
Flo shakes sometimes but not quiet as bad as in your vid. She only does it when she is bored and wants to move on from what I've worked out. I wonder if it could be similar.

Yeh he just said its like excitement. It could be true as he was shaking really bad today when I put his harness on but didn't leave the house straight away.

Re: Shaking like crazy
Perhaps it is just nervous energy or wanting to move on.
Guess all you can really do is keep an eye on him and act on any other symptoms IF they appear.
Out of interest, what is he fed on ?
