Shaking
Does anyone else's staffy shake (tremble) for no reason? Sometimes Mia shivers like she is cold, oh ugh she isn't. Just wondered if it was a staffy thing?

Re: Shaking
Ledger does it all the time, think its a very fine line he walks between happiness/excitement and nerves/fear at times and that's when it's the most obvious sometimes tho I'm convinced it's just for attention and a snuggle

Re: Shaking
Flo does it too, normally when in the Pub. Probably is an attention thing with her as well.

Re: Shaking
Bis too! From what I can tell, usually due to excess energy, nerves or cold!

Re: Shaking
Madge does it when she's troubled - fireworks etc. Had an akita who was the world's worse at shaking - behaviourist advised not to cuddle her when she did it as it re-inforced the behaviour - difficult.

Re: Shaking
Mine too occasionally.
I did read somewhere that Staffy's are prone to trembling legs due to the size of the musculature of their legs compared to their relatively short length causing the muscles to occasionally spasm.
I can't remember where i read it now so it might be total nonsense

Re: Shaking
Lady does it when she's either cold or frightened
although those 'shakes' seem to physically differ slightly
one thing (or things) that frightens her are
in-house flying insects - particularly the buzzing type
( outside all is fine
( bees flies etc etc no problem - even likes to chase them sometimes
a month or two back i saw her get seriously anxious over a lone
on-it's-last-legs single house-fly - late at night
it were big - flew ever so slow
she shook - panted - paced about - was wide eyed
i had to take-care-of-fly permanently to end her panic
even so it were 3 am before she finally settled down
and that after 'calm-down' reassurance from me
( actually took a while for me to realise it were the buzzing fly
( that were the cause of her anxiety
since then same thing has happened with a hornet that strayed inside
- a wayward moth - and another single errant fly
the latter being the young fast type that only a spray would 'fix'
all had the same effect on her
although 'panting' were absent
just this odd shaking - shake shake - pause to breathe -shake shake
and pacing about
again late at night when i want to sleep and not have to chase some
tiny insect about the house to banish it
then spend the next hour or so getting her to relax and go to sleep :-)
