Sleeping arrangements
Since Daisy came to live with us she's been sleeping in our room with us. We got her a nice bed and she has loads of blankets but she will not sleep in it the whole night - she'll keep trying to get in our bed and waking us up 5-6 times maybe more all through the night. I tell her off and tell her to get back in her bed but 10 minutes later she does it again. I haven't had a proper nights sleep for ages!
I don't want to make her sleep downstairs because she isn't used to it and I don't want her to chew stuff cos she's sad (although this is probably me being oversensitive more than anything, I like having her sleep in our room!) Any advice on what I can do to make her know that her bed is hers and she needs to stay in it would be really appreciated and opinions on putting her in a crate as I've been offered one. Thanks

Re: Sleeping arrangements
I'm fine with her sleeping in the bed but my bf gets in the way.. maybe I should crate train him instead
I'm pretty sure Daisy's previous owner had all 3 of her staffs sleeping in crates so maybe try that!

Re: Sleeping arrangements
I like your style!
She probably will settle in a crate, might just get a little whinning at first? I haven't used one here, though Daisy goes in one at my mums x

Re: Sleeping arrangements
I think the crate would be your best option. If you cover it with a blanket it may help with the whinning the first few nights. Suki just sleeps with us but we have a huge bed.

Re: Sleeping arrangements
My Flo is quiet a bit older and when we first got her home 2 years ago we weren't sure how and where to make her sleep.
We did try kitchen.. But she got out... Hall... She made a racket.. Bed... Was like sleeping next to an airport !
In the end she settled for the sofa with HER blanket.
I think it's a softly softly approach if you don't want to crate him or her
Let her fall asleep and then move stealth like to your own room. See how it goes over a few weeks and see what happens.
I guess if she is used to being in the bedroom with you then it's going to be hard to stop her wanting snuggles

Re: Sleeping arrangements
Biscuit was the same when I was in my flat.. I'd get a couple of hours and wake up to her standing over me it was really quite terrifying lol! I moved her out to the hallway so that she was still close but couldn't constantly jump on me and she settled there, but when we moved house the set up couldn't allow that so she also has her blankies on the sofa and sleeps there without a problem. If you can crate I think that would be a good option also

Re: Sleeping arrangements
A crate in your room sounds like it might work Bane sleeps downstairs in his bed but he has a stair gate to stop him escaping the utility room. I wish I could let him up with us or sleep on the sofa but OH won't allow it

Re: Sleeping arrangements
I got a crate yesterday and lured her in with treats, she slept in it fine last night with a bit of whining and sitting looking sad but eventually went to sleep!

Re: Sleeping arrangements
Yeah my bf is rubbish with this stuff he was gonna force her to get in it (he's not horrible just doesn't understand as much as I do) but I put some treats in there for her and let her go in and out as she pleased for a while before bed and she soon got used to it.. still a bit grumbly at night to start with but she settles quickly
