Ledgers in the dog house Empty Ledgers in the dog house

Post by jshrew Sat Mar 15 2014, 14:11

Just back from what had been a great walk along the canal, Ledger wore his rucksack to carry his water and peanut butter so he could have a kong while I stopped for a coffee

Well we got back to the car and I popped him in the back, he was tired so I went to pour him some water before we went and he ducked under my arm back onto the canal path then just took off! The usuall recall just completely fell on deaf ears then I spotted him heading towards a bloke with a little dog far far in the distance by the looks he just trotted along with them for what felt like ages while I tried to catch up without turning it into a chase game finally the high pitched as happy as I could make it calling worked and he sprinted back to me and just sat and looked up as if to say what?

He is normally so good and reactive to stand and wait and the bye with me pretending to run away has been 100% for recall until today needless to say he will have to build up my trust again before he goes off lead again

It was more that I could see in his eyes first off that it was a game and he didn't even look back just felt like that chap after Fenton  Laughing

It was that catch 22, if he thinks he's been left or ignored then he would come straight back in a panic but with other walkers, canal boats etc I couldn't not follow and call him

I am sure they just like to remind you that "look what I could be like" so you do not start to take good behaviour for granted. LOL
