New House
Hi all,
my wife and I have just moved in to a new house with a much bigger garden for Brutus to play in over summer. Problem is, it's a two story house and he loves the stairs. He will run up two or three, then turn and jump to come to us. At first we laughed as he seemed so proud of himself. But after three days we are both quite worried about him going up and down the stairs all day and the affect/impacts it may have on his joints. He is 7.5 months old and is at the stage now where he loves to run, jump and just go for it.
What do you think. Should we block the stairs and stop him coming up, or as long as he takes it easy, he will be ok? A bit of info, I work from home and my office is upstairs, so he loves to be under my desk when I work.
Any thoughts, or past experience from people in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: New House
They love going up and down stairs but obviously too much will put a strain on his joints which are still growing. Would use a gate on the top and bottom of stairs. So when he is down he can't get up and vice versa

Re: New House
Yes agree with above, I haven't got stairs but when we go to nannys house who does, she loves bombing it up and down them! The novelty will wear off, but for now I would stick some baby gates on them Xx

We dont have stairs either (yet) dont know what Rocky would make of them as he has never seen them indoors.

Re: New House
Marley jumps our single patio step onto the grass like she is superman lol, its only like 9 inches high lol
Re: New House
we've never bothered (I work from an upstairs home office too) but at the same time Tommy has never been a nutter with a fascination for running up and down them , so if you are concerned then use safety gates

Re: New House
We have stairs, however our main living area is upstairs. Zoey is about the same age as Brutus and runs up and down the stairs several times a day (I work from home too). We do have a fixed gate which we used when she was a small puppy but found as she got older it caused too many other problems.
Hopefully the novelty will wear off quickly!
