Re: Best lead
Well....it depends on the dog. I no some staffys that walk perfectly to heel on a regualr lead and collar. My Ty on the other hand seems to have regressed behaviourly since we got our pup and although he has aways been walked on a harness we have had to go out and buy him a ridiculusly short lead to remind him he HAS to walk by our side. Some people swear by choke chains for pullers (as long as they are used correctly) ive never used one though, or halti's are also supposed to be good for control. Its all personal preference really and im sure whatever you buy u will end up buying something in a few month to suit the dog better lol

Re: Best lead
We have a harness with a long lead and short it's hard to walk him with that he's getting stronger every day
When he was small we used the lead that goes round his nose he hated that didn't won't to go for a walk so we start to use the harness again and he pull hard so we MIT go for the haltis looks like a gd 1 to go for.

Re: Best lead
i have an short & long lead for my sam it depends where i take him, he dont really like bigger dogs than him so if goto a place where we may come across bigger dogs i have him on short leads just in case but if we go on the fields i have him on long leads.

Re: Best lead
Hiya, I started Moo on a short lead and harness, or flexi lead and harness, when she learnt to walk to heel she is now just on a regular collar when road walking and she's off lead everywhere else. As Blaze said it really does depend on the dog. Lovely Staffy by the way x

Re: Best lead
from my local pet shop it was around £30 it's for larges dogs so the lead bit about inch thick it's 8 metres long
Re: Best lead
for a good flexi lead your looking at 25 to 30 pounds you can get cheaper ones but there not as good and they cost more in the long run iv olways used harness and long lead with my dogs and a flexi for areas they can run but you want to keep control and this is the setup i am getting memphis used to

Re: Best lead
you can get them for dogs of 50kg plus but with a staffy i would go for a one for do9gs of 35kg as there so strong there tested to 4 times that weight so if your under 140kg which is about22 stone it will pull you over before it snaps

Re: Best lead
A absolutley brilliant lead for pullers is the ezydog shock absorber leads
http://www.ezydoguk.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=30&zenid=pntvnvftqgi2rirpo3piqukgl7
They dont address the problem but are worth there weight in gold if u have a puller, ive got one for Ty but am trying to take him back to basics at the mo (trying???!!!) Its got like a bundgey thing in it which takes all their weight. HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED!

Re: Best lead
HI snowdrop, I have Buster, about the same age as your dog, he is a year old next month. I have done some pup training classes with Buster (lets just say they were fun!!!) they insisted on a collar! Buster has a half check collar and a normal lead, not a flexi one. Some days he walks lovely but he does pull quite sharply if he sees another dog or person or cat that he wants to say hello to and he is quite strong so I fully understand what youre saying. I did use a halti harness for a while for him and that did help a bit but now I think its just perseverance with him with this collar and lead. Have tried some tips on here for walking but I a hoping that practice will make perfect.

Re: Best lead
I have both regular and extendable, only thing about any leads is makes sure they are staffy proof, Nitro pulled so hard on his extendable lead he broke off the clip in the middle of the road, and Harley has chewed through leashes.
