Blood in poo !!!
Hi, I'm feeling a bit down at the moment as Lucy has just had her second poo today and when I checked it out there was slimy bright red blood along one side of her poo. (no diarrhea)
She is chirpy, and at the time of her bowel movement didn't show that she was in any discomfort.
I know that bright red is better than dark blood so I'm not panicking yet! - nevertheless a little support will be welcome
She is up-to-date with her worming and her diet hasn't changed.

Re: Blood in poo !!!
Hi im sure that she will be ok especially if she is still running around, eating and drinking well. Personally I would keep a close eye on her and give the vet a call if it happens again, puppies deteriorate very fast. Im sure that someone will be along very soon to give you some sound advise as im not very experienced, but we send you a big hug anyway xx

Re: Blood in poo !!!
Personally, I would go to the vets to be on the safe side. Blood in poo isn't right.

Re: Blood in poo !!!
There's no harm in calling your vet for a little advice sue, as Lucy's only 24 weeks/6 months. Obviously red blood is better than dark blood and could be from straining. But IMO best to be safe than sorry xx

Could you give the vet a call and explain to them what has happenend, maybe ask to speak to one of the veterinary nurses.

Re: Blood in poo !!!
I've just had a word with the emergency vet and he believes that she has stretched a bit of her lower bowel probably due to straining and there is nothing to worry at this time; just keep an eye on her and if there are any changes ring him back.
Lucy is forever picking up sticks and stones, she brings them into the house to play or she sits in front of me with a paw on my lap saying "try and get it from me" I think I will have to buy a different toy to keep her entertained.

Re: Blood in poo !!!
Big Smile !
Lucy is fine, had her poo this morning and no blood found.
I have always check her poo and will definitely carry on incase this happens again.
It doesn't seemed to have effected her; unlike me - I was a nervous wreck. LOL

Re: Blood in poo !!!
Sounds like it was just a one off then, always best to keep an eye on things anyway that way you are more likely to catch anything early.
