My pup has giardia from breeder
Hello I'm new here just wondering if anyone can help, we bought a beautiful blue staff Monday evening from a breeder got her home she had diahroea contacted the breeder was told to starve her, we did but it continued. Wed morn I found blood in her stool so took her to the vet she was diagnosed with giardia and given treatment. Still had diahroea yesterday so took her back had more tests and treatment. She has lost weight and touch wood hasn't had a poo since yesterday but just wondering where I stand with vets fees with the breeder as we paid £90 in the first 4 days off having her ...... Thanks in advance xx

Hi there, welcome to the forum, maybe come and say hi

If they are a good breeder you may be able to ask them for a contribution? I'm not really sure as I've only rescued. Maybe someone else will know. Poor little love, I hope she gets well soon xx

there no law about dogs but what i did find out and they took car for example you have anything you have 10 days if they not fit for purpose you can your money back if you have an receipt
Re: My pup has giardia from breeder
I would also contact he breeder, at the very least they should be informed in case any more of the litter have the same problem. A reputable breeder would help I'm sure.

Re: My pup has giardia from breeder
Giardia can go on for a little while so don't be disheartened if she doesn't get better quickly.. Can take a few weeks to get back to normal. Also be very careful as it's highly contagious to both humans and other animals. We had outbreaks of it in kennels quite often, it can sometimes stay in the dogs system and reoccur throughout their lives, especially during times of stress, but not always. What meds is she on? Not sure where you'd legally stand with the breeder, though I know it can be quite common so they should be prepared to deal with it efficiently.
