Re: Intrested in raw diet need info
It will really depend on how good a variety you can feed?
Over here we don't get the same variety as the UK so I do add things like apple cider vinegar/honey/coconut oil/olive oil etc for joints and coats but I know some raw feeders give such a good variety that supplements aren't necessary.

Re: Intrested in raw diet need info
Would i need to get calcium as a supplent are would the get enough from the raw diet.
So for instace would i need to feed chicken with bone more times a week than red meat.
I no pups need calcium to grow proper.
And how would you no if your dog was getting enough.

Re: Intrested in raw diet need info
Yes by week 8 you mix it up.
Chicken mince is good to use,you may find it could be alittle to much bone in it,just check doggies poo for chalky type look, you can cut back on the mince and add in boneless chicken to even it up

Re: Intrested in raw diet need info
Have just bin giving him chicken mince
He has done another now but that was solid
So all going well.
Am i right in thinking you give 10% body weight
To start with
Bruce weighs 10.5 kg
So i would need to feed him 1 kg of food.
It just seems alot.

Re: Intrested in raw diet need info
I always got confused by that...Bane is still a pup and if we fed 10% he'd be having 1.5kg a day o.o We're going to start him on about 600g a day and see how he goes. I'm sure it won't take long for you to get it right

So i give bruce his first chicken hnd last night. He loved it.
I was a bit nervous at first all that crunching.
Took him out this morning. And his stool was really big.
Almost a caramel colour
Any ideas.

Re: Intrested in raw diet need info
yellow or caramel coloured poos is normal when they eat a lot of chicken, like when first swapping on to raw.
Some dogs are harder to swap on to raw then others, if he turns his nose up leave the food down for 15 minutes anything not eaten take up and give NOTHING until his next meal where you offer the same food - tough love!

First meal of the day.
He is still full of life.
I just think that if he misses a meal he must be sick.
Thanks any way.

Re: Intrested in raw diet need info
Aw bless him. Perhaps softer food for a bit? (mince etc?) I must be honest when my two were teething I was still feeding kibble and hadn't changed to raw yet.
To ease their pain you can give them ice blocks, icey treats (or their raw frozen?) A wet, frozen cloth is also great for them to chew on to ease the teething.

We had to start soaking Bane's kibble so that he would eat it...maybe try something softer for him.
