Heart murmur
Dear everyone
Yesterday my seemingly healthy Staffy-cross foster dog was diagnosed with a heart murmur. She is only 8 or 9 months old. Does anyone have any experience with heart murmurs and does anyone have any advice? I would be so grateful. It was a big shock.
Thank you.

Re: Heart murmur
Daisy has one, the vet just said that she may need medication when she gets older and told me what to look out for. What did they say to you?

Re: Heart murmur
Well, we were taking her to the vet to be spayed. First of all it turns out that she has a heart murmur - the vet said Grade 2, and that - after having taken blood tests - that it is congenital and that she will need a scan to establish exactly what is going on.
Then the vet found a scar on her belly and said that she thought that she might have already been spayed. Without further investigation, we don't know anything. I'm waiting to hear when and if we can get a scan done (as they are v expensive, and we are trying to find something the centre can afford).
I worry that this will affect her adoption chances, though the family that is v interested in are coming down to meet her on Sunday and take her back to theirs. Hopefully.
But I don't know what a heart murmur means and whether diet/exercise etc can make a difference.
