Hey all.

We've had our madam 3 months next week.

She's very excitable but luckily calms down really well. However we're tryig to get her to be calmer with the in laws border collie so we can eventually to to a point where they are ok in the house together. It's mainly so we can take her over there when we go and vice cress and so we can look after each others dogs if need be.

We've been taking them for regular walks together but Ripley has a habit Of wanting to jump all over Barkley (the border collie) he really doesn't like it he's only a year old but a real gentle soul and sadly he's been snapped at and had a few Staffys have a go at him. So he's quite wary now.

Ripley occasionally goes to jump on him when she's off lead but if we see her about top we tell her no and she will stop. She seems to try to do that when she's on lead and barks is off lead ( his recall is 99%) so he's allowed offs lead a lot. whereas we've only had rips for three months and her recall is good but still on her terms sometimes. We think this is just her getting frustrated when we have to put her on a lead

However when we take her in a home environment she just REALLY wants to jump on him and we don't think she's being aggressive but we don't want anything to happen and would just like some suggestions on was to help her.be calmer with him and help them settle together.

I know if she's calmer Barkley will without doubt be less nervous of her.

To start with i would sugest keeping rips on a lead but a loose one so she can do what she pleases. The second she goes to jump on him or whatever say AH AH sharply and firmly and take her away into another room away from him and everyone else, when shes calm bring her back in and repeat. Dont get me wrong u will probably end up doing this a hundred times but eventually she will realise that what she is doing ends up in her being taken away from everyone and isolated (which she will hate). When she seems better on a lead remove the lead but continue with exactly the same process and obviously dont leave them together unsupervised x

Thank you I think we'll try it. She seems to learn very quickly.
