I'm so excited!

Tomorrow morning I get to choose a pup thatos going to be coming home with me in 8 weeks time!

I'm not really sure what to look for. I know I want the one with the blackest fur, but I'm not really sure what other features I'm after!

I just can't wait to see them!

How did you all choose your pups!

Also when raising a pup is it easier to do it with just them, another pup or older dog?

i just pick xena becasue she came to me first, i choose sam becasue he was the biggest male from xena littler & nephew choose billie becasue she was the same colour as xena

They were only born a couple of days ago but she's a friend of my partner. So were going to have a look tomorrow to pick one.

To be honest I'm just excited to see them as I've never seen a litter of pups first hand, as my previous staff came to us when she was three so it's all new to me!

I feel like a big kid.

After having my previous staff, I have wanted to have the opportunity to raise one from a pup but the time has never been right, but it couldn't be more perfect right now!

first thing i would do is read up on the breed as you shouldnt take the staffies pups lightly lol they can be full on haha
at such nan early age there so hard to determain if they got what you want as they change so quick i found around the three four week mark you can start to see there caractor coming through

I've had a staff before admittedly not a pup but I know what they are like when they are older. Reqd, that's why I'm here lol and all I've done for the last couple of days Is read some fantastic stuff on here.

Bruno was 7 weeks and 2 days when we got him, We only had a choice of two, which were both boys as his sisters were sold 2 days before we went to have a look. But when we went there , Bruno was the cheeky one into everything and looked like he has bundles of energy, i knelt down near them and bruno kept coming near me as if to say pick me pick me Laughing

His brother was cute too,not much difference in appearance only a few teeth marks on his head, where Bruno had been jumping on him as he was playing, my little girl wanted that one and me and my son wanted Bruno and we came back with Bruno. Not sure how go on choosing a puppy as young as that litter, but please take photo's , we loveeeeeeeeeee photo's on here, if you hadn't already gathered Laughing

The wait is going to kill you, i have to wait till the 10th to pick my little girl up and i cant wait.

When i saw her litter looks wise i actually prefered her sister initially. When i sat down with the pups they were all over me chewing and biteing as they do. Kayla pushed right to the front, jumped into my lap and just sat there nuzzeling me - no chewing and so laid back. Then i picked her up and she wouldnt stop licking me.

Proof that love at first sight happens. Go with your instinct.

I have no idea about how to pick a pup, as when we got Milo he was the only one left from his litter. he is totally different now though from when we went to see him, he was all calm and quiet, now he is as cheeky as they come.

When I got my parrot (Ozzy) though, I picked him as he was the only one that came to the front of his cage to see me. Even though he was a different type of parrot from what i went for Big Grin

At that age though, apart from their looks, there isnt really much that you will be able to go off as there wont really be any signs of their personality. I would maybe look for which of them is feeding the best etc but thats about all i can suggest.

As she's a friend I'm sure were be able to go over a couple weeks later and have another look and hopefully see a bit more of their personalities.

As were getting first dibs it's going to be really hard as there is 7 to choose from! Ive never had so much choice lol

My first was chosen at a very young age she was lied on her back and she had a perfect white love heart on her chest that just attracted me but with growing its not as defined.
My second was chosen for me a bit of a long story but a dream come true and I will never have a chance to own a dog like him ever again.
As I said before you will only be able to choose colour at this stage when the eyes are open and they are moving around you will have better chance to see the best one there but your gonna have fun so enjoy Smile

Well when i went to see harvey he was the last one left so didn't get to see the other pups, however when we got there he ran over and tried to eat my shoe laces and wouldn't leave us Smile

we also had an hour to choose whether we wanted him or not or someone from the other side of the country had said he wanted him, without seeing him or noing anything about him thinking

Anyway i had fell in love with him as soon as i walked in and my OH knew it i would have been devastated if we didn't get him, so we got him a week later Big Grin

Ok everyone I would like you to meet Tizzy!

Now I know some will disagree with them being handled at such a young age but they've already been handle and mum was fantastic.

Mum met us at the door wagging her tail and took us in, I sat next to her den and gave her lots of praise and she was so calm. I did ask if they had been handled and my friend said yes so I slowly picked one up keeping it in mums sight at all times.

Mum just licked the pups face whilst it was in my hands, it was such a special moment.

I wasn't originally going to pick one today but I have feel in love with Tizzy and she seemed so settled in my hands, she curled right up into a ball. God they are so soft!

Anyhow Tizzy is the runt of litter and she is weeny compared to the others, but thats it, I knew it had to be her.

They are having to help her latch on at the moment as where she is so small she keeps getting shoved aside and I witnessed that whilst I was there.

Mum is such a good mum though!

Well my friend had temporarily called her Mia and she asked us what we were going to call her. To be honest I hadn't thought about it but my partner blurted out tizzy!

Mum is called kizzy, dad is called ozzy, and the other dog is called jazzy so tizzy fits in perfectly lol.

Oh I have a question.

Mums pure staff and dad is staff crossed with a mastiff so what does that make the pup? M not sure really with determining crosses.

No I dont recognise you either! Where did u go to school, we r the same age too. Well anyway me and 2 of my girlfriends have 5 staffords between us, 3 girls and 2 boys. One of mine can be a bit DA but I keep her on the lead when meeting new dogs, and I know loads of good walks around ba2 / ba3 areas.

So we'll keep in touch and then I can have puppy-snuggles with your little girl. Tizzy a great name for a staff pup, so shes 3/4 stafford and a 1/4 mastiff. Dont know if theres an official name for them, maybe stastiff? lol!

Pup will be 3/4 (75%) Staff 1/4 (25%) Mastiff.

For any individual gene in your pup the Punnett sqaure looks like this; If S stands for Staffy gene and M stand for Mastiff gene:
S M
S SS SM

S SS SM

Basically means that each gene has a 50/50 chance of being pure Staffy or StaffyxMastiff

All the other pups are literally twice the size of her with little pop bellies. But none seem as chilled as her.

I held some of the other pups and they wouldnt sit still on my hand, just tried to stagger away. But Tizzy no, she curled up into a little ball and went to sleep.

I put her in the crease of my top against my chest so it was like a little hammock and she just led there still asleep and actually dug her head into my chest. That was it, I knew it had to be her!

I am going to go see her again in 2 weeks, so I'll take more pics lol.

Heres a good example of the size difference.

Tizzy is on the right and the only other tan pup also being her sister is the one on the left. There is deffo a size difference! lol

I chose kaiser because i loved his unusual markings and because also he seemed to be the one that got picked on i just guessed that because he always sat at the back and waited to come up to us when the others had gone

From reading what others post on the site, it seems so strange that these little beings have such different personalities. It's crazy!

Counting down the weeks, well tell me about it! I'm just glad that I can go and see her pretty much when I like, it would be nice for her and me to get to know each other before I take her home.

He's a Bull Terrier! I used to have a staff, but my oh didn't want another one when we lost him a few years ago - he was one in a million!

I now have little tizzy home!

She's done one wee on the carpet I suspect likely from nerves, she's been out on the grass and had some breakfast, had a little play and is now tucked up in a blanket fast asleep with her teddy Smile

She doesn't seem too bothered about her harness either which is fab!

God they don't have cry when they want something though lol, she's already trying to push it to get up on the sofa lol. I'm sticking to my guns!

So... I got on the floor with her instead lol
