Very irresponsible but..
I have to admit it was so funny..
Firstly, Axl is not aggressive he thinks everything wants to play with him and is quite eager to play back although we do not let him run free with dogs he does not know as he can be very dominant. On this occasion we'd just had enough and knew nothing bad was going to happen, let me explain..
Took Axl to the park, he had a lovely play with a cross German Shepherd and something fast, not sure what but beautiful well mannered dog and the owner was more than happy to let her play with Axl knowing that Axl would never catch her. Was lovely to see him play and enjoy himself, no problems, both dogs were loving the play and the lady had to leave so we called Axl and put him back on the lead.
We carry on walking a bit and an off-lead Jack Russell charges up to Axl and barks, snarls and nips at him, we try to walk but the JR is hopping about in front of us blocking our path and occasionally launching himself at Axl. The owner is on the phone. We shout over for him to get his dog and put him on a lead. Axl is so blooming stupid he thinks the dog's playing so he's on the lead and trying to dart off to the left and right as they do.
The owner shouts, "no no its okay he won't actually bite" to which we reply "no, please get your dog and put him a lead now", owner replies "no no he's okay", my other half then says "if you don't come and get your dog i'm letting mine off" to which the owner replies, "no mate, he's okay he won't bite" all the while the JR is snarling and darting forward and trying to nip Axl. My OH shouts one more warning which the other owner ignores, he lets Axl off the lead... well.. i've never seen a JR run so fast he shot off in the opposite direction, Axl was thought it was a great game and shot of after it, the other owner starts running after both of the dogs. After two laps around a swing park we call Axl back and he stops mid-run and charges straight back to us, sitting at our feet. The other guy? Last we saw of him he was still chasing after his JR...

Brilliant lol!! Some people are such idiots and will not listen!! It may not have bitten but it could have caused a viscious reaction in your (any strange) dog. At the very least it was really bad manners of him to allow his dog to do it! None of us want to be barked and snapped at!
Fantastic solution though, hope it taught him a lesson!

Re: Very irresponsible but..
lol I did laugh but I must admit I stood in shock when my boyfriend unclipped him. Luckily Axl is very well behaved around my OH and listens to him so I knew he could get him back. I think we've just had our fill of people not getting their dogs when asked, its happened so many times!

Re: Very irresponsible but..
Some people just refuse to listen. In my opinion it is the owner of the JRT that was being irresponsible. If an off lead dog approaches Fritz and he has a grumble (on lead, of course) the owner's will almost always me a look of disgust. Excuse me, if you can't recall your dog, don't let it off the lead when there are other dog walkers about.

Re: Very irresponsible but..
Poor Axl though, it was like he'd done a 20 mile run he was so tired but very happy with himself!
Also, I don't know what your furkids are like but Axl really can't do corners he runs through things, not around them.. and they were doing laps of the swing park so every time he got to a corner he was leaning over so far he was literally touching the floor, I can only liken it to a cartoon to be honest wish i'd got it on camera!

Vinn doesn't do corners too well either he seems to muscle bound to turn quick so usually ends up having the run around by the other dog

Yep, Biscuit's the same, she just runs to the corner and throws herself on the floor

Re: Very irresponsible but..
Well done Axel. Debo is pretty good but with anoying dogs like that he could loose his patience. And the corners - he could play rugby, he's pretty fast taking the corner. When he plays with dogs he dogde very quickly.

Re: Very irresponsible but..
my opinion? I would not have let any of my dogs off their leads in that situation...sure I would've been angry sure the jrs owner is an ar.....e and believe me I have no love for jrs but I have said on here before I carry a stick and I will use it[if vocals don't work] and was told thats was not the right thing to do incase the other dogs owner took offence.if I let beau off every time a dog annoyed him I would be in trouble...now some people will say is that because you don't trust your dog? but who really is 100% sure....

Re: Very irresponsible but..
Just want to say, I don't hate Jack Russells or any breed to be honest.
Axl's dog buddy is a JR and they love each other. This was a one off and probably will never happen again and I wouldn't recommend it Do I regret it... nope not one bit
