Hard and soft poos Empty Hard and soft poos

Bacchus has been on BARF for 3 weeks now and I've noticed something which I think is unusual. He is fed twice daily, 7am & 6pm. Because of the short days I give him his vigorous exercise ( flirt pole and fetch + walk about 1 hour in total) around 12.30/1pm and I have noticed that he has a firm motion before exercise, then he has a second motion after his exercise but this one tends to be quite soft, but not diarrhoea. I thought he would have solid stools all the time on Barf. Anyone else experience this? confused

P.S.
He is on Natural Instinct, 250gr per meal which is the recommended amount + meaty bones/chicken carcass twice a week and is looking great. The soft stools don't appear to be the day after the meaty bones so can't see a connection there. confused

I put him on Working Turkey for the first week but now alternate between Working Turkey, Tripe and Chicken, and Duck.

Sorry Rodger never fed the raw diet so no help. I'm sure the experts will be along very soon.

I've no experience of BARF either, but as the clue seems to be that the soft poo happens after vigorous exercise, my (very) wild guess would be that his system feels the need to get rid of a little extra burden and so evacuates before absorption is fully complete (like some people vomit after vigorous exercise). This might all be rubbish of course!

I'm new to raw too but I know that they can have soft stools when introducing a new meat which is why you are supposed to introduce one meat at a time, although saying that we havent had that problem. It could just be him adjusting to the diet?

Exercising makes the body get rid of anything that may inhibit its motion.

I'd say that's exactly it!

There's no problem feeding twice on raw - what on earth makes you think that?

Do you reckon it's ok. to vary the meat types or from day to day or should I feed one meat until it's finished then give him another until that's finished and so on? As I said, I restricted him to turkey for the first week but now change the flavour every second day. I haven't had any tummy upsets, just that occassional soft poo after rigorous exercise.

It's often recommended to feed one source at a time until they're used to all of them, but once that's done you can swap & change whenever you want.

To be honest, the feeding one at a time is really to see if there are any intolerances. For example Dempsey is poultry intolerant. If he's ok with the way you're doing it, then carry on!

I feed different meats every day, and normally a few meats each meal, BUT they are on a well established raw diet, and until he's used to different meat, take it slowly and keep adding new meats slowly.

I feed once a day also, but twice is ok if that's what you want to do
