Buying a blue staff
Hi
Me and my partner are wanting a blue staff as our family pet.sadly last year our white staffy "trigger" passed away due to cancer in his throat.
We have read up on as much info as we can find on this very useful site.
One main factor that we was unaware of is that one of pups parents must be black.
We are very cautious as to not buy a pup from a backyard breeder.
We were just wondering if someone could point us in the right direction to a reputable breeder, within the Manchester area or within 30 mile radius.
As with all buyers we want to make sure our pup is healthy and from a excellent background.
Thank you.

Re: Buying a blue staff
It really depends on how important it is to have a blue?
A lot of good breeders will have the occasional blue in a litter, and if you want to use a good breeder then you can put your name down on a waiting list for a well bred blue pup. However, you may have to wait for some time because these breeders are not breeding specifically to get a blue litter!
In order to be certain of blues in a litter a breeder will have to mate two blue parents - with the resulting chance of poor health, bad conformation and terrible skin conditions.
My real advice would be to not go for a specific colour, but for a healthy, well bred puppy from a good, reputable breeder.

Here is a Kennel Club link for that area

There are some blue pups on there, health tested too.

^^
This I also noticed.
We are not in any rush,so I think it'll be just a matter of searching and being especially careful in choosing our pup.

Re: Buying a blue staff
I don't want to pay above the normal price either, just because of the litters couloir, but unfortunately the sellers know that people will pay more for a specific colour.
I'm seeing that a lot of KC registered blue staffs are selling for between £500-£900.
This is quite a lot more than I am willing to pay.
This just means it is going to take longer to find the right pup for us.

Re: Buying a blue staff
Skippybigballs love the username . Join the North West Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club and ask them the questions . I am a member but not personally aware of Blue Breeders but they are around and can be recommended to you, I do know of 1 or 2 members that show Blues , though they may be a little further afield than Manchester . If pup is worth having then it is also worth the travel .
Generally if you are looking for a Blue Pup then you should be looking for at least one Black parent , all health tests in place, all KC paperwork in place , a nice family environment , 20 questions just to get on the waiting list ( and prepare to be dissapointed ) and not paying more than £600
