vaccination problem
rite...jazz had her 1st vacc at 6 wks by the breeder so the 2nd is due at 10 wks (next week) so i went to my local vet practice earlier and the vet told me that they can't do seperate vacc's at different practices.
So he suggested we redo the vacc's at 10 wks and 14 wks..now is this just a ploy to get me to buy the whole vacc package or is there a genuine reason why they cant do sep vacc's at different practices? and also i,ve heard somewhere before that over vaccinating dogs can cause problem's later in life?
What are your guys views on this and what shud i do !!!

Re: vaccination problem
Different vets use different makes of vaccine - maybe they don't like to mix them?

Re: vaccination problem
why don't you take her back to the vet where she had her first jab???? surely its not that far away or call up the old owners ask their vet does house calls atleast you wont have to wait like another month and more.

Re: vaccination problem
yes usually you pay for both the jabs on the first visit so if u take her back to the original place she got her first jab u will probably find it has already been payed for as well x

Re: vaccination problem
If you have a record of the type of vaccination used, can you not ring other vets in your area to see if they do the boosters

Re: vaccination problem
Oh I sympathise with you, here we're still 'sitting in' with our rescued pup (about 4 1/2 months old) we got him 3 weeks ago and had to assume his vac. status was nil so had to do the whole lot! We are as desperate as each other to get out believe me he's lovely lively boy and is being very good and we don't have tonns of acres for a back garden either!!
I'd ring round like pp said. Personally I'd even do the drive to get out right now, all this waiting is pants! God luck x

Really??
When We took Milo, I had to pay on both visits. Wonder if I have been done, ha.
How much do the vaccinations usually cost on average?

Re: vaccination problem
oh right!
When we took him for his first injection and got worming tablet it cost us about £30. Then it cost us another £30 when we took him for his 2nd lot of jabs.
Hmmmm, something doesn't seem quite right there.

Re: vaccination problem
when I got the whole litter vaccinated (bearing in mind this was two years ago) I paid £35 for each puppy, this included both vaccines and a puppy pack (toy, free insurances, food samples etc.)

Re: vaccination problem
I'm lol here as I thought our vets were really special giving us a puppy pack and how generous they were. It was a really nice large re-usable fabric one printed with the vets logo etc on, big sample of Hills Science puppy food, wormer tablets, spot on treatment for fleas and some other worms, 4 weeks free insurance with pet plan, really good info booklet on puppies they had made up !! It all cost £34 including 2nd jab obviously!
I did ring round the above was the cheapest plus my families vet so recommended and the highest quote I got was a whopping £14 different at £48!
