It took me some time...
...to not regret having decided to get a puppy.
Hi,
We got Pebbles 11 weeks ago mainly because my husband had been wanting a dog for a long time. And i finally said ok. I was actually quite excited when Pebbles arrived home BUT I hadn't quite realised how much work a puppy really is.
After the 3rd week I must admit I had had enough I kept moaning at my hubby who is at work all week that it is me who has to do all the training and that it is like having a toddler in the house. I sort of felt trapped in a way.
I have to say that after the first month IF hubby would have said 'Ok we'll find her a new home' I would have said 'Yes'. However I stuck with our decision and hoped that it would get better...
Well now Pebbles is 20 weeks old, she is practically house trained (touch wood!) and she has fitted into our family and routines nicely. Not to say everything is perfect she still has a long way to go with her recall and lead walking ...but she is still a pup and we will get there.
Anyway i am so glad that we did get her and there is no way i would think of sending her away now. She is the best puppy in my eyes!
Just thought I 'd share the bumpy start of our journey.

Aww so glad you stuck with it, I do understand as I did every bit of training with Vinnie and it is such hard work, hence why so many end up in rescue centres.
She will adore you for being her guider and confidante so happy for you all xx

Well done for sticking with it, I'm sure others will read this post and draw strength from it when they also go through that tricky stage at the beginning. A puppy is much like having a baby around as in they weill depend on you for a lot of things like basic training and feeding. All the time, patience and consistancy will pay off.

Re: It took me some time...
Awwwww I am so with you there. Looks like your doing a brilliant job with her. Jasmine is just starting to calm down ever so slightly lol, and I have her PLUS 2 year old toddler twins PLUS a stroppy 14 year old:-/!!!! But with training and (very) clear boundaries, I am seeing small improvements daily.
Also, just have to say, we live in Hampshire too, plus our blue girl is also 20 weeks!! Are you in Southampton by any chance??

Re: It took me some time...
Hi, had a busy weekend and no time to come on here
Thanks for the lovely posts. I see i am not alone in finding these first few weeks difficult.
I used to scoff at people who said 'oh getting a puppy it's hard work you know!' but now i know.
Yes it is lovely to see our efforts pay off. When Pebbles is good and behaves like a well trained puppy, I feel proud of her.
Jasmines'mum, yes we are in Southampton too! Maybe we should meet up with our girls.

Just off of Newtown Rd, at the top of Weston.
You? Maybe we can arrange to meet up this week at a park?

It will be well worth it in the end, they are a huge part of the family once you all get in a routine. Keep up the good work with your little princess x
