Mouthing
Morning all,
Roxy is 18 months old now and still very mouthy. I know she's still young and she still acts very puppy like but I'm not sure of the best way to deal with this. Anyone got any suggestions?
Many thanks

Re: Mouthing
What have you done so far to stop it? Is she neutered, and if so, when was she done?

Re: Mouthing
Thank you for your replies and the link. She's not neutered yet. She had her last season in September and is due to be neutered next month.
It's odd because she wasn't really that mouthy as a baby but over the last month or two she's been doing it more. When she does it with me, I do what is advised in the link that was provided and she stops. The problem is when she does it with the kids. They react a bit more. Don't get me wrong, she's ever so gentle with her mouth when she does it but I don't want her doing it at all.

Re: Mouthing
My kids are 7,4 & 8 months. My husband and I have taught them how to behave properly around dogs and they are very good with Roxy. It's just sometimes when she mouths at them or tugs at their clothing, they think she's trying to bite them. I've explained to them that she's not going to bite them and that she just want attention but they don't really understand. I will just persevere with what I've been doing. I'm taking her back to training classes this Wednesday as we haven't been for some time due to me having a new baby.

Re: Mouthing
Tell your two older children that if she jumps up at them or tries to mouth them, to just cross their arms, look down at the floor & turn away from her. Totally ignore her until she's calm. They're both old enough to be able to enjoy being part of her training. Encourage them to take part in the training classes as well!
