My Staff has been limping a bit...
Hello there, for about the past 2 weeks my dog has had a limp (back leg), it started whenever I was walking into the entrance of my apartment I opened the front door and she got her paw caught in it (So she had a limp on the front as well at the time.) But from what I know she hasn't done anything to her back leg, I was thinking she maybe pulled a muscle when she yelped and jerked away from the door.
She only really limps when she has been lying down and gets up, once we go out for a walk there's no limping. I was thinking she just might feel a bit weak? Because last week she had been sick a few times during the night and her eyes have a bit of gooeyness.
I am currently on housing benefits (But I need a confirmation form.) due to not having any work. My Dad said for me to get the confirmation form and take her to the vet, they give free care if you have benefits. The only problem is I think I need a valid passport (mines expired by a year.)
I want to take her to get checked out, but I'm REALLY struggling with money at the minute, literally have none at all.
There's nights where I go without dinner, just so she can eat. Please help

Re: My Staff has been limping a bit...
Poor thing!
You probably ought to get her to a vet (Blue Cross/RSPCA etc) just to check her out.
As far as I know, you don't need a passport for them, but you will need several forms of identification. Give them a ring and ask what, exactly, they need.
In the meantime I'd restrict her exercise, and maybe give her half an aspirin (NOT Paracetamol) twice a day with a little food & see if that eases the problem.

If she's limping after laying down fo a while, it's likely to be a soft tissue injury - strained muscle, ligament, tendon, etc.. These sorts of injuries often stiffen up after laying or sitting down. The general rule is to give her light exercise for three days; if she hasn't improved or is getting worse after that, a vet trip is recommended.
Vets are often willing to work out a gradual payment plan if you're short of money.

Re: My Staff has been limping a bit...
I have got her booked for the vets on Friday afternoon, they're aren't making any charges they just take donations so I will give whatever I can I described to them about her and asked what they think it could be, they also said it could be a soft tissue injury or some inflammation, but still to get her check anyways.
Thanks again

Re: My Staff has been limping a bit...
Well folks, took Goldie to the vet earlier. I explained what happened and the vet felt around her back legs and done a bit of slow movement. She said she could feel my dogs knee kind of move about a wee bit, not freakishly but just slightly that could cause a bit of a limp before getting up.
I asked if it would be a permanent thing and she told me it may be and it could lead to arthritis when she is older. But by the sounds of things, it's not too bad, I was told that I may notice her having a slight limp at times and other times she will be completely normal, just however he knee is I guess.
For the mean time I have got medicine for her and just need to limit her walks for a few weeks.
Again, Thank you everybody!

Glad the vet thinks it's something that'll be right with time.
