Ear Problem
Hi all,
Sapphirre has this black stuff in only ONE ear, It looks like dirt but despite cleaning it out, it returns. I have a feeling it might be ear mites. I noticed this a week ago, thinking it was dirt but now the ear has become inflamed and red and shes itching it to the point it bled. I have been using ear drops from the pet shop which is vet approved for the past 3 days but it doesn't seem to be doing anything, just getting worse. Tonight she is tipping and shaking her head and I think she is getting distressed with it now, whereas before it wasn't bothering her. It isn't warm which a pet shop worker said is a good sign that it's not infected.
Apart from regular cleaning and using the drops, is there anything else I can do as I don't like seeing Sapphie distressed. Also, does this sound like anything else bar ear mites?? As i can't see actual mites, just like black tar-ish- like dirt.
Thanks

Re: Ear Problem
I would personally take a trip to the vet as soon as possible. Treatments can be discussed once you have worked out whether it is ear mites, an infection or something else causing the problem x

Re: Ear Problem
And with molly the vet did a swab and put it under the microscope etc. She had very diff course of treatment to that for our spaniel when he had ear probs. Shop treatments wont necessarily be treating the particular problem uours may have. Let us know how she gets on

Re: Ear Problem
Defo needs antibiotic drops. Vinnie has the same at the moment and have got drops from the vets which is clearing it up now. You need to go as left untreated may cause deafness.

Sounds like the vet would need to take a look to know for sure what it is, please let us know how you get on.
