Eye problem
Mia has had a runny eye since about 12 today, we thought it was sleep as we noticed wen she woke up from a nap, looking at it now tho the eye is all red and she is trying to keep it shut and only opening it a little bit, tried bathing it with hot water and cotton wool, anything else I can do for her? Tried calling the vet but they're engaged, will try again in a minute... She's happy and playing but it's obviously uncomfortable for her
Her other eye looks normal
Thanks

Re: Eye problem
what is good for eye problems in humans and dogs is couple drops
of johnsons baby shampoo the original yellow stuff in cool boiled water
to bathe eyes. i suffer terribly with eye infections eye specialist told me to
use the solution twice a day when eyes are sore and if in fected as often as needed, and every couple of days i havnt had bad infection since using it
have used on ruby when she got grass seed in her eye made it sore n weepy but cpl days bathing she was fine. obviously i consulted vet first but it works very soothing. (MUST BE JOHNSONS AND ORIGINAL NOT STORES OWN BRANDS)

Re: Eye problem
If she has lots of eye dust it could be conjunctivitis, could be a foreign body, if it gets worse I would pop her to the vets. Xx

Re: Eye problem
Would suggest gently swabbing the eye from inner corner outwards with warm clean(boiled) water with some cotten wool every few hours or when gunged up.
Take a look in the eye if possible to ensure there is nothing irritating it and it it does not clear up speak to your vet.

Re: Eye problem
I think I'd go to the vet if it gets worse or lasts a few days. We used to have to use eye drops and a cream everyday on our Bulldog. Can't be too cautious with eyesight

Re: Eye problem
Just got back from the vet, £170 later and just some eye drops!!
The vet had a good look and said he didn't find any foreign bodies or no scratches on her eye at all so all he could do was prescribe some anti inflametary eye drops, twice a day for two days.
Strangely though her eye got better as soon as we walked in to the vets... Can never be too careful tho
