Re: need help asap
Unless your dog has caused any damage to this man, did he say if he had been bitten or not ? I wouldn't worry to much but try to make sure they cannot get out again. Please secure any fencing that needs it.

Re: need help asap
Well he shouldn't have kicked the dog we will start with that and something we will all agree on.
But, as far as the police are concerned it could have been an offense under section 3 of the dangerous dogs act. covering dangerously out of control dogs in a public place.
RSPCA have no powers of entry and probably wouldn't even turn up if contacted. they can only enter with a police officer with a warrant.
If there were no injuries, and even if the police did get called it would be more than likely dealt with by way of a warning to keep dog under control at all times. Repeated episodes of this nature could land you in trouble or even worse, if your dog goes into the road and gets knocked over and killed.

Check your fences and make sure he doesn't get out again. People will threaten you when they have had a fright

So you have to learn a lesson the hard way , accept the fact you may be visited by the police as a result of this incident though I agree the worst you should expect is a warning . But please please act on the following
1) Take actions to ensure mistakes like this cannot happen in the future , for me the side gate to my garden is bolted on the inside at the bottom so nobody can open it from outside
2) We have a child safety gate from the hall into the living room which is always closed , it serves 2 purposes to keep the dogs of the leather couch during the day but most importantly they cannot get out of the front door by mistake or accost anyone that comes to visit.
Please Please Please think about getting him some form of training also , in the event of any further incidents being able to produce evidence of being a responsible handler will always go down in your favour

Re: need help asap
Firstly, I doubt very much if the police would even be interested, let alone come round to do anything.
Secondly, you must ensure that your dog cannot get out without your knowledge, and receives sufficient training so that if there's an incident you can call him back straight away!
