Poor Dempsey's cough is back

He gets coughs usually about twice per year. Wouldn't be so bad, except that, when it does happen, he never knows when to stop and wait for the coughs to subside, so he keeps running about, making it worse. It isn't anything serious - just usually in the hot weather after too much exercise and not enough water, and sometimes if he gets something in his throat, which I think is what's happened this time.

Poor thing was fast asleep, then suddenly scrambled to sit up and started coughing. Trouble is, the more he coughs, the more irritated his throat gets, so it's a cycle. I gave him some honey, which seemed to help, but now he's feeling sorry for himself.

First time it happened, we thought there was something wrong! He honks, rather than coughs, and that can sometimes be a sign of underlying conditions. Pretty sure it's just his cough though, the strange dog! He always makes strange noises. His howls sound like a cross between power drills (not exaggerating!) and somebody gargling water at the back of their throat!

He seems okay now Apparently he had a bit of a coughing bout yesterday as well, but hopefully it's just a small one.

Honey would be great for his throat, also a little ginger chew sweet if you have any.

I gave him honey earlier, which near enough stopped the coughing. Took a few minutes, but it stopped completely after a while.

He's feeling well enough to jump up at dad and demand treats!
