Harness which doesn't go under armpits
Hi all,
Ever since we've had Zeus, I've used the Non-pull harness from Pets at Home which worked well with his pulling.
However, for a while now, its made his armpits sore and has took all the hair off, so I am now looking for a new harness.
Does anyone have any experience or use any harnesses which do not go directly under the armpit?
I've seen a few that go near/on the ribcage but want to see if theres any tried and tested ones for Staffies.
Thanks!

Thanks, Ella, they look like exactly what we need.
I want to get the El Perro one too but just waiting for him to grow fully before I spend 50 quid on it!

Hi Nathan, I've had a look at the Julius K9, it looks good and strong, but I thought it goes under the armpit or looks like it could chafe..?Nathan wrote:Had a similar issue with marley and it was worse when it was wet. I got a julius k9 for both mine now and im really impressed with them

Re: Harness which doesn't go under armpits
Nah its a strap accross front of chest and another under chest. Both mine pull all the time and its not done any damage at all. As soon as they lurch forward the strain is on the wide chest strap. Will try find a pic for you mate

Second one, imagine him lurching forward, all the force is on the thick chest strap

Re: Harness which doesn't go under armpits
Marley used to be able to back out of his....Ive left him digging out moles a few times lil git but if you make sure the chest strap is snug they cant get out. Hes tried when hes seen deer and been unable to do it since I fitted better

Re: Harness which doesn't go under armpits
We have the T Bar with the Julius K9 which prevents them backing out of the harness. We have had these harnesses well over a year now and they are still working well (get washed loads).[img][/img][img][/img]

Re: Harness which doesn't go under armpits
We had the Julius K9 for Rocky and he could get out of it too, even with the chest strap, wouldn't trust it again. He now has the EzyDog one which isn't so easy to get out of.

Re: Harness which doesn't go under armpits
I wonder if body type has something to do with it then. Marley has a very spitz look about him and a longer neck than a pure staff.
I tried to to make it come off tonight when he was digging his moles out in the park and it wouldnt budge. The top front just presses into his shoulders as he tried to back out of it.

Re: Harness which doesn't go under armpits
So I went for the Trixie harness which Ella stated and it's brilliant, very strong, material/fleece is very soft and I got it for a ridiculous price (£10 off Amazon including delivery) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000VBK1AC/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Would definitely recommend the harness if you have the same problem.

Re: Harness which doesn't go under armpits
Soo.. as per my previous post, i was very impressed with the Trixie harness, however, I'm not on my second harness (which I'm returning also) as the build quality isn't the best. The first one ripped near the chest and the buckle on the second one has just got jammed and won't open now! So back to the drawing board to look for a harness which doesn't go under the armpits..
Any other views would be appreciated!

Re: Harness which doesn't go under armpits
I do use the trixi harnesses and have never had any problems. Skye has had hers for 2years now and although the fleece part has gone bobbly it has worn well (and been through the wash quite a few times)
I recently was looking for a new harness for buster and bought him a trixi fleece one
My only thing is the harness does seem to slip to one side

Re: Harness which doesn't go under armpits
Exactly what happened to me, it doesnt stay still and moves to the side. Aside from that, I thought the harness was brilliant but the clip has just got jammed and I can't get it outGazagem wrote:I do use the trixi harnesses and have never had any problems. Re: Harness which doesn't go under armpits
Chiquito wears a Puppito harness - it is broad all over, soft, doesn't rub and sits well back off his legs. He has one of each style and I can highly recommend both
