Hollie's got a bald patch
Noticed Hollie's head has a small bald patch right on top between her ears...
I've checked her over and she hasn't got any more bald patches, but don't want it spreading either!!!
Looks like another trip to the vets £££££££
Just got made redundant on Friday as well, could have done without this until I find another job, but hey, she's worth every penny that it's gonna cost to get her fixed

Re: Hollie's got a bald patch
It's almost certainly demodex - but don't panic. All dogs have the mites, they're born with them, but occasionally they get a bit out of hand. I use Camrosa Ointment, which is a lot cheaper than the vets & works a treat on small areas. If you want to find out a bit more give them a ring, they're very helpful........

Re: Hollie's got a bald patch
They do it for all sorts of animals - farm animals as well. I'm not saying it would work for a really bad attack of mange, but for the odd bald spot it certainly seems to!

Can't add anything!
Sorry to hear about the redundancie, so many people I know are going through it too, some good and some bad, all the same, if that makes sense! Things come just when you don't need them too! Sods law x

Make sure you follow the instructions exactly, though. They say to use their own shampoo first, but I use a mild puppy shampoo and it seemed to do the trick.

Re: Hollie's got a bald patch
yeah hope the cream works on Hollie. And sorry about your job too.
Jethro has another op next week, my hubby doesn't work ( and neither do I at the moment) so we will be living on baked beans and mince for the next few months to pay for his op! Like you say though.. our beloved dogs are worth it!!

Re: Hollie's got a bald patch
It looks exactly the same as Dempsey's bald patch did! The ointment cleared it up pretty quickly, so fingers crossed!

Re: Hollie's got a bald patch
Thanks everyone, reckon i'm gonna wait a few weeks before I look for another job, i'm so happy havin' all this time to spend with Hollie at the moment, reckon she's a lot happier too
Got back from town today and the ointment had arrived, but gonna wait 'till tomorrow morning before I bath her 'cos the instructions say not to blow-dry her and she's gotta be fully dry before I apply the ointment

Re: Hollie's got a bald patch
Good luck with tomorrow and the treatment. I was out of work last year for about 6 weeks and it was soooo nice spending the day with Moo, made it even worse having to go back to work! Enjoy some time off, something will come up before you know it x

Re: Hollie's got a bald patch
I'm refreshing the topic so I won't have to write a new one
Mambo's got pretty the same bald spot in exactly the same place on his head!
today I noticed 3 or 4 small bumps on it, something like you get after insect bite, but really tiny. now i'm starting to wonder if it's 'normal' for this condition or maybe it's something i should worry about? vet already seen it and her opinion was that he probably scratched it somehow before (he's got it since we adopted him) and that's why it's bold.
now i'm not that certain about that.
Debbie, Carryl - was your dogs' skin on the spots smooth?
btw, Debbie did you manage to get rid of it with the cream?

Re: Hollie's got a bald patch
My Angus has the same problem, weve had meds from the vet and now hes on the second dose, his skin was bumpy aswell, but now ive read this i will see if they can send the oil to Germany for me.
Debbie, hows the job hunt going? hope youve found something.
