Is Lacey normal???
I am starting to struggle with knowing what is normal with a puppy. Lacey is 6 months now and to my best knowledge (and following lots of advice from you guys) has been going really well. She is toilet trained, comes when called and mostly obeys our orders. She has socialised so well and absolutely loves other dogs. She is still struggling with walking on the lead as she gets a bit overwhelmed but I can definitely see improvement daily and am now starting a waking class with her. The main thing that I worry about is that when there are visitors she gets so excited and jumps a lot. When she jumps on myself or my partner we simply tell her down and she understands, but she gets so excited when there are visitors that she just doesn't listen and has to be completely removed from the situation. She also chews absolutely everything even though she has plenty of toys which I thought was perfectly normal for a pup her age but I have been told by two people her jumping on visitors and chewing is not normal and she will never be a good dog. It upset me that I got told this as I am with Lacey all day every day and I thought that I saw plenty of improvements with her but being told that made me start to second guess my judgement. Would love some opinions! Thank you!

Aww don't second guess yourself! Just because she hasn't learnt everything doesn't mean she won't be a good dog! It sounds like you are doing a great job with Lacey, she sounds as though she is coming along nicely!
In regards to the jumping, they do tend to get very excited with new people, so they practically go deaf to everything and everyone! If you could just ask your visitors to tell Lacey 'down' and not to initiate any contact until she is settled, otherwise her behaviour is being rewarded. I'ts great that you are removing her from the situation though! Take a look at this link for more info : http://staffy-bull-terrier.com/how_to_stop_your_staffie_jumping_up
With the chewing, what exactly is she chewing other than her toys and how much exercise is she getting a day? here is some more info on chewing http://staffy-bull-terrier.com/chewing

Re: Is Lacey normal???
I will try asking visitors to help with it, like you said, she just gets so excited (which is understandable). She chews absolutely anything that she can get her little paws on! She loves shoes, clothes, absolutely anything. We buy her heavy duty toys weekly as she chews through them in a day. She gets walked twice a day for around 20 minutes each time (depending how she feels as sometimes she gets overwhelmed/tired and just drops to the ground until I turn back) and also gets a few hours of playtime with our other staffy. I will have a look at the link you posted. Thank you!

Re: Is Lacey normal???
Lacey sounds perfectly normal to me, darcy gets excited when we have visitors I just ask them to ignore her until she calms then they interact with her. As for chewing, yep darcy would chew her way thorough all kinds if we let her anything she chews which is not allowed gets her a firm no, which now that she's 12 months works a treat, although nothing works if she's stole a sock so please don't listen to whoever has told you Lacey wil never learn because with your love, guidance, patience & persistence she will

Lacey sounds like she is doing very well to me for just 6 months old ,well done you for putting in the work.who ever told you she will never be a good dog is taking rubbish, she's a 6 month old pup who is learning alot and is discovering the world about her.staffies love people so will get really excited when some one comes to visit, just carry on with what you are doing, sasha is 9 and still gets really excited when people come and she HER!as for the chewing just make sure every one in the house tidys away their things that are left on the floor,Lacey sounds like a very normal pup to me
