Tips on introducing a new baby.
Hi all, I haven't been online for a few weeks, been super busy. As you may or may not be aware, we are expecting our first baby in 3 months and was wondering if anyone has some good tips on how to prepare Kuta for the new arrival?
He is very good with children, so I know he is going to be great nanny dog. He deffinately knows something is going on as we have recently moved to a larger house and there are new things (cot, pram ect) popping up around the house for him to sniff. Does anyone have any tips from experience on how to prepare him for what is to come, please? Thanks guys, it is all a bit daunting this mum-to-be thing. So much to know and do..... will I ever learn it all?

Re: Tips on introducing a new baby.
Congratulations!!!
Are you having the baby at home or in hospital?
If it's in hospital, get a blanket & rub it gently on the baby & then take it home for Kuta to sniff & get used to. As soon as you get home sit yourself down & get Kuta to sit quietly beside/in front of you & let her sniff the baby.
Don't exclude her, but set the ground rules straight away & be consistant - ie no licking faces, no jumping around near the baby etc.
Above all, make sure that Kuta gets just as much attention as the baby does so that she won't feel any jealousy.
Good luck & we expect to see loads of pics when the baby's born!

Re: Tips on introducing a new baby.
Congratulations.
Was going to say near enough what Caryll put.
We have introduced 3 babies the way Caryll has explained it and everything went smoothly every time. I think the main mistake is that people do exclude them but as long as the boundaries are set there is no need to do this. All should go just fine.

Oooh wow how exciting! I'm sure Kuta will be a great 'big brother' to your little one. As Caryll said let them get used to the scent of the baby, set boundaries and let him be involved.
Can't wait to see the little one,
