Coconut Question Empty Coconut Question

Post by otisthestafford Sat Jun 29 2013, 14:40

Hiya Everyone Smile

So whilst I was shopping the other day I found Otis a coconut which I plan to give him this weekend - Just wanted to know is there any part of it we need to remove first, like the hair on the coconut etc?

Thank you and I will post pictures after he has demolished it Smile

Hi Sarah, I have seen a few photos on here recently where they didn't remove the hair on the coconut, im sure its harmless if they are supervised but im not 100% sure. Hopefully someone will be along soon to give better advice Smile

Nope the hair is fine and acts as a good dental floss. I do supervise though just in case it were to get stuck. My two get the entire coconut and once they've drank the water and scraped out the delicious flesh that tend to discard the hard shell. Their best bit is pulling at the hairy bits! Be sure to get some delicious coconutty kisses afterwards Smile

I've never given any dog a coconut so sorry cannot really help. I would remember that they are very high in fibre though.poop

Luckily fibre wasn't an issue for my two BUT it was the first time Vinny's ever eaten his own poop. Mustn't have wanted to waste a bit of coconut!!

be carefull inside as they can fling them about and a coconut flying toward towards your tv gets your heart racing. to prolong the intrest you can drill out the eyes so they can smell the flesh inside. clean up after each play time as the shell is sharp and not nice to bare feet in the night. i let mine play with them as i buy them hair and all which they love ripping off and then going to work on getting inside.
