Walking Later In The Day
We would normally be out with Rocky in the afternoon but are going to leave it until later on today hopefully it will cool down a bit and be less humid, fingers crossed anyway.

Yeah us too, darcy just gets too hot and bothered. With a bit a luck it cools a little later.

I haven't even attempted a walk yet. Frankie doesn't cope with walking when it's hot. He much prefers to sunbathe! Hopefully it will cool later

I am so lucky, the heat doesn't bother Moo, we walk in the woods so its cooler and there are 2 taps, always stop off at the pub, she went swimming to cool her down, and I have a nice tan

Re: Walking Later In The Day
Would love to do the same with Dempsey, but he gets very stressed when his walks are messed up, especially as he won't go to the toilet in the garden.

Ditto, Charlie doesn't do the heat very well so we'll go for a walk after 7!

I think that's the best way to do it. Skipping walks altogether is worse for the dogs than a little extra heat.

Re: Walking Later In The Day
We ended up going out at 17.00 this afternoon it was a little cooler and Rocky was much happier with his run about then, 2 hours later than normal. Thankfully he will go out to the toilet in the garden when he needs to.

Re: Walking Later In The Day
Took Vinnie at 6pm into the woods and it was quite cool amongst the trees. He was still panting though poor little lad. He did roll in the damp mud a couple of times to cool himself off!

Like a Hippo!!
I daren't not give Dempsey his 3 walks a day. He went out for a long walk first thing, then a shorter, gentle walk at around 4pm & he'll go out again at about 9pm.

Yes Caryll it is just like a hippo, same here with Vinnie I daren't not take him for his walks otherwise his look makes me feel really guilty!

Its been so hot! Im lucky Shéara loves the sun so we just take lots of water and rest in the shade mid walk under a tree for him to cool down.

Just back from a 2 hour stroll through the woods Went out with him first thing this morning too, about 6am. The rest of the day he just lounged around or went and stood in his paddling pool

Re: Walking Later In The Day
We had a half an hour trot around the field, that was enough for him tonight. We met some friendly horses and he rubbed noses with one. I think he thought it was a very tall dog!
