yeasty paws help plz
i need some help with treating my girls paws, they have bin a problem pretty much since we got her they get worse over winter and slightly better over the summer
we started the dogs on a raw diet over a month ago and it seems to be helping but i need other ways to help treat it, i dont want to go down the vet route of steroids and expensive creams full of chemicals etc
i need to find something that is going to work and do it properly
i try and clean her feet when i remember which shamefully isant as often as i should and im kicking myself up the bum to try and sort this out once and for all
ive tried aloevera, coconut oil, washing with water and vinegar,
i have bin looking at a recepie for water and hydrogen peroxide that i am thinking of trying
i want to put a cone on her head though at the same time as starting something else so that while i am treating them she cant get to them to chew or lick of anything i put on,
i have read people saying they used thrush cream or athletes foot cream for yeasty paws, has any one tried this, is it even safe ?
i need something that is really going to sort her out...and in a reasonable amount of time... hot weather plus yeasty feet
dose any one have any solutions ?
thanks in advance xxx

I've had no experience of this either, but I looked at Google and found this http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2011/05/03/eating-these-foods-can-make-your-dog-itch-like-crazy.aspx
Googling "yeasty paws" also throws up other threads that may help. Oh, and a visit to the vet may help as well, although like you I would try self-help measures before going to that expense.
Do keep us updated on how you get on, as I for one have never heard of this condition before, at least - not in dogs.

Have never had experience with yeasty feet either. I do use apple cider vinegar to wipe over Chiquitos belly/underarms as this helps to reduce the yeast that builds up in these areas - not sure if this is the vinegar that you referred to using, though I do not water down the ACV.
I can't offer any advice in regards to the thrush or athletes foot creams sorry.

Re: yeasty paws help plz
I'm sorry I've not come across this either, I like Kell use ACV to rub darcy down with after walks because of allergies. I hope you manage to get it under control soon, there's nothing worse than seeing them uncomfortable, good luck

Defo apple cider vinegar ! Add it to her food everyday - about a tablespoon. Put some on a cotton swab and wipe between her toes too.

Warm sweaty wot sits when darcy licks her paws obsessively and makes them sore I use dermacton cream which settles them down straight away.

The vet told me do fill a tray/tub with water and a very small amount off disinfectant. Pop the paws into this mixture and then just wash off with water after.

Re: yeasty paws help plz
what kind of disinfectant like detol ? (the medical kind to the house cleaning kind)
i have some TCP would that be any good ?
what exactly is dermacton cream and how dose it work
we have had beau for 2 years 4 months now she was a resue we initally thought the foot chewing was an anxiety thing, our old vets wer useless
they thought it was food so we kept changing her diet nothing helped, then last time i took her to the vets they mentioned how her paws had yeast and started going on about steroids and such which 1 i didnt want to give her and 2 i couldn't afford all the different things they wanted me to buy as my twins wer only a few months old and tbh i doubt i could afford it all now even
im reluctant to go back to the vets as i dont want to be in the same situation again
hey she needs all these drugs
yeah i cant afford them
back to square 1
i just dont want it to be going on any longer for both of our sakes
part of me feels like i should just cave and give her all the drugs but i know how bad they are and how it is likely not to actually help
i wish i could just hand her over to someone who actually knows what ther doing to fix her

Re: yeasty paws help plz
When I read your thread about yeast infection I thought of Canesten which I have heard of for treatment of humans, but I wasn't sure if it was suitable for dogs. I googled Canesten + dogs and found a load of information which tbh I haven't read all through - I just saw that one person went to Boots and asked for Canesten and was submitted to the third degree that all chemists put us through these days and she admitted it was for her dog (ears) and they wouldn't sell it to her! So if you decide to apply Canesten cream to your dog's paws, just grin and bear the embarrassment and say under the third degree that it's for you!
Good luck, do let us know how you get on.

I'd go for Apple cider vinegar. Pop some on a cotton swab diluted and wipe over the affected area.
U can add Acv to food - it's great stuff, natural and cheap !
I always try to avoid anything 'chemical' with my dogs. Nature made these things for a reason ?! Use them x
