Poorly paws Empty Poorly paws

Post by spike08 Sun Nov 15 2015, 14:13

Hi guys
My boy spike is having problems with his two front paws. Over the last 4 weeks his front paws have been painful to walk on and when I had a look in between his toes were red sore and all he does is lick them. I took him to the vets and he had two injections and antibiotics in tablet form that lasted us for five days. His sores cleared up lovely and we went back to our lovely long walks. The vet wasn't sure why his paws were like this and why it was only his front paws. We got up this morning and his paws are back to bring painful and sore again and all he does is lick them.. Looks like another trip to the vets... Just wondering if any of you have had this problem and if you know what causes it.?Any help or advice would be much appreciated

Possibly an allergy? Reactions can show in very specific places, Bobbert used to get very sore under his front armpits and his ears. Ask the vet what he thinks about allergies.

Yup allergies is the number one contender for being the cause. My Flo has the exact same issue but with her rear paws. We have had some success with Thornit powder but it certainly hasn't cured it.

As much of a pain that it is, try washing the paws after every walk and see if that makes a difference. The vets can offer an allergy test and depending on what the result is will make the treatment specific for that allergy.

Do keep us updated as I will be very interested to read what you find out.

Try washing paws twice a day with diluted Hibiscrub. Then again with just water. Worked a treat on my staffy following a suggestion by the get Smile
