So pleased...
Proud mummy
Everyday Otis is turning into such a gentleman who has really made me very happy as I was in a rubbish place before we got him. Given me loads of confidence again and he is always keeping me busy.
I always worried terribly within the first weeks (as he is my first stafford), I hope I have done the right thing, I hope he won't be aggressive; but as time has gone on he is the biggest softy who just isn't phased.
We took him out on the field on Sunday with our 4 year old niece and she loved it!! He was very good with her as well, very gentle and never snatched off her, as we took her to PAH; she was showing him lots of toys I was always on guard to correct Otis if he needed it. It was also a good experience for him as she was so excited and wanted us to run (we held her hand) with Otis to get the ball and he just ran straight passed not bating an eye-lid. So I was really pleased that with guidance from us he got a taste of being around children.
He is also such a star in his classes too... Whilst the other owners are struggling to do the down stays there is Otis in the down staying wonderfully the whole time with my partner stood at the end of the lead. The instructor thinks Otis is a lovely boy and is always saying 'you should show him he has a lovely gait (walk)'. I do come out the class with a rather big head It's nice to receive a compliment though ay and I do work hard with him
Anyway enough of me and my big head
Just wanted to share with like minded people.

Well done Sarah, sounds like your doing really well with Otis and walking out with a 'big head' isnt a bad thing, its great that your hard work is being acknowledged
You should feel very proud of your little star

Re: So pleased...
It's no coincidence that Otis is doing well at his classes. You are obviously putting in the work in between lessons. Too many people think once a week training is all that's required then blame the classes when their dog doesn't perform.
Well done Otis ( and you ).

Nothing big headed about it at all!
He's doing well, and it's down to you bringing him up properly - boast away! ><

Re: So pleased...
Isn't it great to hear such an uplifting story such as this!
It's not big headed to be proud of Otis - or yourself for the work you are putting it. Well done.
It's interesting to read you were in a rubbish place. As somebody who has almost literally been through hell and back the past year (and the past 6 months have just been absolutely dreadful), I can relate to that. But, since we got Sophie from the pound last week, it has been a real uplift to us, and me especially. Makes you wonder how many more of us owe so much to our dogs!
Do we rescue them... or do they rescue us???

Well done Otis, its the best feeling when they make you proud!
Sounds like he is doing great with his classes and is the star pupil. Its amazing how gentle they are with children, its like they know to tone everything down a bit. The only problem we have is getting them to stop trying to lick faces!
