rocco being protective? Empty rocco being protective?

Hi,
As some of you know I have Rocco staying for a few days (friends staff) but I found our tia has come into season and was to late to cancel having Rocco. But them to are fine love playing togther, and sharing tias bone which is cute, anyway, my friend came over with her German Shepard sabre and her and tia where playing In The garden, Rocco was in side, then he came out and they were okish then Rocco started going for sabre who is only 4 months. There was growling snarling, teeth showing and snapping of the jaw. No harm was actually done. we had to leave going for walk as I didn't wanna leave Rocco in on his own the first time at a different place. So I got in touch with roccos owner and she was really shocked about this! She said he is great with other dogs and never ever growled at another dog or anything before. He lives with a grey ground and fine with him. Do you think its because he was protecting tia? Or something to Do with her starting her first season? Just thought I'd ask coz I'm sure she would like to know why as well as she is upset about today as she said its not like Rocco at all!

Almost certainly because of her season.

Has he been castrated?

I don't have any experience with this, but i say yes its because of her season. I'm glad it wasn't to serious and no harm was caused Smile

agree 100% when laska is in season marley will be very protective and he had been castrated. he cant even stand a dog playing with her in early stages, almost like he wants to be in contol. he will physically put himself between laska and any other dog no matter its size and he must oooze some kind of scent as they all back down tail between there legs no matter the size the little brat.

I'd agree, absolutely because of Tia's coming into season. Hormones wreak havoc, drat them.

I agree as well. Especially since Rocco has never shown this kind of "aggressive" behavior before and is usually fine with other dogs! When my old dog was in season my brothers dog (they were great friends and played together at least once or twice a week) would not let any other dog near her! Any time another dog tried to come close to her he would actually get in between them! He was only like this when she was in season! And he had also been neutered!
