Whites of Mias eyes turning red or bloodshot?
Just noticed lately that whilst playing tug of war with mia her eyes buldge and the whites turn red or bloodshot. This also happened when i had to restrain her in a headlock so my wife could try to get ear drops in her lug. Is this normal, or am i doing something wrong?

can't say I've ever noticed this in either of mine , and never had to put my dog in a headlock to put ear drops in either ??

hi Dave have to hold my hands up and say a lot of the behavior is down till the dog not being made familliar with different situations. But i think she has a wee mite in her ear she shakes her head around every 10 or 15 mins and when she sees the ear drop bottle she legs it :-)

How much time do you spend fussing and grooming etc, they need to be used to daily handling and this can be a big source of such kind of problems , I can honestly say I would never have to put either of mine in a headlock to get some eardrops in . Try ticing with a nice high value treat and some gentle calming next time while your OH has a bit of fuss from the back , then gently put the drops in whilst being fussed

Tanks eyes go bloodshot when he's tired.
In the past when he's had to have eye drops or ear drops - he's been fine - make it into a big snuggle fest - and a tasty treat.
Got to the point that soon as he saw the bottle we was at my feet waiting !

Sonics eyes (and the rims) used to go bloodshot when she was excited...the puppy trainer said not to worry and she seems to have grown out of it now!

We actually spoke to our vet about this last week, Caley always seems to get red eyes. She told us that its down to excitement, alot of staffies get this and nothing to worry about.
