Wow ! Excited much ?

Firstly congrats on ur fur baby.

First few days will be tough, u both need to get used to each other. A pup will have bursts of energy / then sleep / energy / sleep etc.

Have some newspaper down for pup to pee n poop on. If he goes 'in the wrong area (which he will) just pick him up n place him in the paper. Lots of praise etc.

Feed a good quality grain free food.

My pup settled very well at night snuggled upto a large cuddly toy in his crate.

Crates are great. It's ur pups lil safe haven - a secure place your pup will know and love.
NOT to be used as punishment (ever)

My pup loves his crate - if he wants peace - he goes to his crate.
When I go out - he goes in his crate - and I know he's safe.

If you can, get one.
Got mine on eBay.

best of luck with the new pup Love Struck , before you go to pick up the pup ask them if they can put an old T-shirt or any old material in with the mum and siblings for a while so that it gets scented for you to bring home.
A familiar smell in new surroundings can help settle them, dont be suprised if there is alot of sleeping as well as there brain will be in overdrive for a few days taking in all the new things.

Agree about the crate, if introduced to it properly, it becomes their bed, their safe place, somewhere to go for a bit of peace and quiet. Plus when they're properly used to it, they can be left in it for a bit (only after increasing the time slowly) while you go out so you don't have to worry about them chewing everything.

Take lots of pics for us Big Grin don't expect too much, they want to sleep a lot and are pretty quiet and perfectly behaved at first because they're settling in.

I too agree with the crate - mine saved my sofa from total distruction!! Big Grin

Doug no longer uses his so you are more than welcome to have it, it is quite large but it's yours if you let me know where live Smile

I'm so excited for you!! Such a happy time!

Although it can seem a bit of a nightmare at points with toilet training etc...just stick it out and you'll have a wonderful companion for life Smile

Crates are most definitely the way forward. They give each party a time out zone!

I used to think ohh crates they seem mean but via this site and personal experience i wouldn't have a pup without one again!

Best of luck and photos are a must!!!

Bring a blanket with you and rub it on the Mother of the pup then he will have a familar scent. I did this with Logan with a blanket and a teddy and he stayed attached to them for the first week or so and seemed to calm him down when he was nervous Smile
