Re: advice please
It's not true. It stems from the fact that an unusually large amount of fat can make a dog sick if it's already predisposed for pancreatitis. Around the holidays many will give their dogs lots of turkey skin/gravy and so on and if it's already predisposed they can get very ill but a little is always fine and if the dog is used to fatty foods it's nothing to worry about at all (however too much fat can always give them cannon butt!).
Re: advice please

Re: advice please
I think it is all the salt and preservatives in it..a vet was talking on the radio yesterday morning and said whatever you do, don't feed ham to your dog over xmas.

That makes sense as it is very salty. I know processed ham is full of preservatives.

Yes, ham & bacon shouldn't be given to dogs, they're far too salty. A small amount I would think would be ok, but I personally don't give any at all.

Re: advice please
Not much chance of that in our house anyway with a 23 year old stepson. I kept asking "what do you want for Xmas?" and I'd get "Ham" as the answer.
I kept getting visions in my head of a 23yr old out on the back lawn chewing his ham bone, at the same time Kita & Izzy were chewing their bones. Would have made a great photo
I gave ours the last few prawns as we'd all had enough, they didn't touch the sides either.

my 2 loved their Christmas dinner, Bella inhales her turkey, blink and it's gone I didn't offer them any sprouts, even the thought of after effects from Bella made my eyes water

Re: advice please
I had told the oh not to give her sprouts as she smells like a sewer anyway! But he sneaked them in, so glad tinkerbell left them though!

Re: advice please
Dempsey loves sprouts - but raw only, he won't touch em if they're cooked!

Re: advice please
maybe Dempsey and Jethro are related as Jethro LOVES raw broccolli..I am sure he would probably like sprouts then too!
