Stag bar/anco root sizes
Going to order a stag bar and anco root for Chiquito ... unsure of what size would be the right one to get though.
Any suggestions on a size that would be good for a 16 week old puppy? Also, how long do you find that they last?

Re: Stag bar/anco root sizes
large would be good. They last a while but mine can go through them pretty fast if they chew hours and hours each day. I bet for 16wk old they would be fairly indestructible for stag bars. You may even go down to a medium size.

I get the biggest/thickest I can find. They last a few weeks/months. Loki currently has three StagBars and one fallow deer antler. All chewed up but still some left. He hoards them so I think he needs another, but they're still there

Bacchus has had his Stag Bar ( medium ) since he was 10 weeks old ( he's now 10 mths ) and it's still going strong but I think it depends on the dog how long it wil last.

Re: Stag bar/anco root sizes
Thanks all for the replies - I think I might go with a medium stag bar and see how he goes
(We can't get either the stag bar or anco root here in Australia so i only have the online pics to go by for ordering - hard to judge size and durability from a pic!)

Loki is rather clever I think Tara .. I like his style
Do you think the fallow deer antler is better/worse than the stag bar at all? On the website it just says that they are softer ....

I would err on the large side, you'll be amazed how quickly he'll grow into it. If he is initially a little reluctant, soak it in water overnight or rub a little peanut butter into the ends just to get him started.

It's softer so it may not last as long if your dog is a very strong chewer, but Loki's still got his, a lot of it, actually. A few members' dogs don't have any interest in StagBars but will love the fallow deer antlers for some reason, so I don't think it's better or worse, but definitely has its good point.
