Didn't expect it to be this easy!
This is more of a braggy post than anything else loI! no advice required...
Anyway, I bought a crate for my pup the other day for her to sleep in at night because I'd been taking her to bed with me but she was getting a little too clingy with me so I thought it would be best to try and break the habit ASAP. Anyway, the first night of being in the crate she did cry and howl a little all through out the night so yesterday I tried to get her to associate the crate with something positive and fed her all of her meals in there yesterday and shockingly at bed time when she was put in the crate she went straight to sleep without making a sound! She woke me up in the middle of the night though so I took her outside and she did her business... Put her back in the crate and she slept through again until 8am!
Can't believe how easy this was really, anybody else had an easy crate experience like this? I was dreading it and thought she would be crying for 3 or 4 nights before getting used to it! Can't help feeling it has gone a little TOO smoothly though, expecting her to howl the whole house down tonight or something haha!

excellent news. We only kept Suki in a crate the first week or so and than moved her in with us.

Yeah I am only going to use the crate until she can hold her bladder a bit more and when she's big enough to get on and off the bed herself etc as at the moment she's still a bit small and doesn't trust herself to jump down properly so if she needs a pee or something without warning she will just squat wherever she is whether it be sofa, bed etc. so at the moment there are towels and blankets on the sofa just incase!

That's the same decision we made. Suki was already a little over 4 months when we got her

I was even luckier. Never had a sleepless night with Bacchus. I gave him a treat in his crate and still do every night. First month or two I would get up at 3am to take him into the garden, but tbh most times I had to wake him up for this, then back to bed until 7am. Only ever had a couple of "accidents" and these were when he had an upset tummy.
He still sleeps in the crate at night and is lying in there now having a snooze.
