'Beefy' staff
The guy that came to fix our internet last night owns a staffy and he seems to know his stuff, then he mentioned about 'putting a bit of beef' onto Shéara by adding chicken etc to his diet. I have recently changed Shéara's food to Fishmongers finest and although he enjoys it, he has good and bad days regarding going the toilet.
Firstly, is his body still adjusting after 2/3 weeks to the food? Should i try something else or add something to it to help it digest better? Although im not one for this raw diet stuff, he does have the occasional raw bone, would it be wise to add a raw meal a week?
Secondly, Im pretty happy with his weight and looks, i dont feel the need to have a 'beefy' staff, but just out of curiosity, will he fill out any more, hes 23 months now?

Re: 'Beefy' staff
Food won't really affect build, that will be done by his genetics
After 2-3 weeks he could well be still adjusting to his new food!
He may bulk up a bit for the next couple of months, generally SBT's grow up in the first year and out for the next year or so

Thought so! It did kinda baffle me when he said 'add chicken to add 'beef'

Re: 'Beefy' staff
Exercise can obviously affect build by adding muscle etc. when Baileys had a bit extra running about, tug etc ill make sure he has a chunk of beef or lamb for dinner instead of chicken for the extra protein
I'd also class a 'beefy' staff as a fat/overweight staff I may just have a different opinion of the word and use of it though

Re: 'Beefy' staff
He ment beef as in a bigger build not fat, sorry i should have claffified that at the beginning
If i was to give him raw food after exercise say once a week, i know you have to wean them onto it and ive heard not to mix it in with kibble so how would i go about that? Just give him a small portion to begin with?

Right well in that case food will definitely not do much if anything at all! Some of the best looking dogs I've seen have been fed 50/50 raw/kibble, but I wouldn't risk it!
I'd just change his morning feed one day to raw if you wanted to do it but start with bland stuff. Chicken is the best to start with!

Re: 'Beefy' staff
The food won't make any difference to his muscle development. If it's a good quality food & he gets good exercise then he'll muscle up. Whatever protein source he gets.

Re: 'Beefy' staff
Daisy seems to have filled out/bulked up over the last couple of months, I got her last September and her age was estimated at 1-2. I still think she's pretty dainty for a staff but she's gorgeous
