Not even a Kong stuffed with peanut butter or cheese to get him started on it? I know they lick the goodies out but mine will usually start to chew it.

Well maybe, it may get the ball rolling so to speak. Kongs lack flavor and I don't know many dogs who like them empty. Elk antlers are still my fav plus they work great for cleaning. The dogs love them and won't touch any store bought bones.

Also, I go to the butcher and get beef bones with a little meat still left on sometimes for free. Maybe that's an option?

Does he play with ragga's or what about the toys with rubber bristles on, or the Denta stix but that could get costly

he's a lazy bum i try to get him playing with balls and rubber rings he's just not bothered, i think its because he had a op on his knee when he was young and couldn't do much at the learning stage of his life.
i try them denta stix he didn't like them.

you could try the dental kong, you put food round the sides, and when they chew it,it helps clean teeth,or something along those lines lol

Mine like the hard plastic bones and it says when they chew them raggedly they are great for cleaning teeth. I brush my 2 teeth regular as well.

Re: tips to get my sam chewing
yea i been trying to brush them he not having none of it the next dog i have i'm going teach him/her it's ok to have his/her teeth brush
Re: tips to get my sam chewing
I give raw lamb spines to dempsey & he chews those, which keeps his teeth nice & clean. I only used to brush his teeth when we were going to a show for that extra sparkle!
I know you don't like raw meat in their beds etc, but couldn't you give him the occasional one in the garden?

my hubby is the same, he does not like raw bones in the house. So we throw one in the garden for billy and we take it in turns to sit and supervise.

Hollie's got the Kong Dental Stick and she loves it, but then again Hollie will chew anything you give her, or more to the point anything she can get her teeth into (allowed or not)

Looking through videos and pictures of Piggy when she was a pup she did like to chew on hooves indeed all the dogs here love it when the farrier arrives as there is likely to be a bit of hoof shavings going spare....

Bandit used to chew on hooves. Yuk!
Haven't given one to Dempsey, we were warned not to because if a BT can't chew something in 2 bites, they try to swallow it whole!
