Walkies!!
Hi all ,
I'm wondering about how often ,how far,how fast, and how long to walk my boy dexter he's a 15 week old staffie (rescue) ,the wife normaly takes him for a slow walk(about 1 mile) during the day and I'll take him for a 1 mile some times 2 mile jog around 9pm , during the week these walks would be on the pavement at weekend its on the grass in the park
Is this ok ........ He never looks knackered , when we arrive home he's full of beans and frequently has a nutty 5 minutes.
Any advice welcome!!

Re: Walkies!!
as a general rule, 5 minutes per month twice a day, so at his age roughly 20 minutes twice a day, on lead walking.
can have a bit extra off lead/playing though

Re: Walkies!!
Normal walking is around 5 mins per month but playing about and nutball behaviour is pretty much unlimited. Good luck trying to stop that anyway lol.

Re: Walkies!!
Agree with above re walking, 5 mins for every month of age, I'm not sure about the jogging though i think it's a bit to soon, but I'm sure someone will pop along shortly with a bit more advice.

Re: Walkies!!
He's too young to do any jogging with you. He's allowed to run around, but he shouldn't do any jogging with you at his age, any running he does should be off-lead when he can rest and stop whenever he wants. As said, five minutes per month of his age, two or three times a day, plus off-lead playing. But definitely not the jogging until he's much older

Re: Walkies!!
Definately stop the jogging until he is at least 18 months and than start off slow and gradually build distance. They are still growing until than and stressing their joints early can cause a jost of problems later in life.
