Inward sneezing/hiccoughing
She's been doing it all afternoon, doesn't seem distressed or bothered, it started when my mum and dad got back from their week long break and she inevitably got over excited is it worth worrying about? As she's going into kennels tomorrow morning for a night

Re: Inward sneezing/hiccoughing
Is it like a strange snorty noise? That's often caused by an elongated soft palate and doesn't necessarily cause problems unless it is prolonged, uncomfortable or painful. Quite common in brachycephalic dogs (short muzzles such as pugs, English bulldogs, some staffies.
It's often referred to as reverse sneezing. Can be done if there is something irritating the sinus or respiratory passages.

I read that it usually isn't anything to worry about. Loki does it, usually short moments once or twice a day, but depends. He never cares though. So I wouldn't worry as long as she doesn't seem distressed

Yeah, it's more common than you'd think. If it becomes a problem, antihistamines can be used. If it's very bad or chronic, vets can give the dog steroids.

Re: Inward sneezing/hiccoughing
My pooch has done this a few times recently.
My mum's rotty (Rumor) had it really bad when she left the kennels, almost to the point where Rumor couldn't breath and she panicked. The vets said it was the end of kennel cough and she was put on antibiotics for a week.
As long as your pooch doesnt seem to be in discomfort then dont worry, if it gets worse I would personally visit the vets just to be sure

Re: Inward sneezing/hiccoughing
She seems settled enough, and since I posted she's pretty much stopped
Funny you mention that, at the vets last week for the kennel cough spray, the vet checked her over and mentions she had a slight restriction in breathing, but nothin to worry about, it was just a staffy thing
Cheers guys xx
